FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 3:15 p.m., former Congressman Virgil Goode, Jr., will make an announcement at Federal Hall, 26 Wall Street, New York concerning the 2012 Presidential Race.
Goode is now a member of the National Executive Committee of the Constitution Party. Goode served in Congress from January 3, 1997 to January 3, 2009. Goode lost the closest United States House of Representatives race in the country in November, 2008. During his tenure in Congress, Goode was consistently among the lowest spenders of the Member’s Expense Allowance.

I don’t think I’d support a candidate who wants to protect SS and medicare (see @10-11). His support for the “war on terror” at home and abroad is a big concern as well. Together these are the two legs of the warfare-welfare state, which is exactly what Ron Paul is running against.
Given those two choices I see Johnson as being much better.
Have to admit, I’m pretty sympathetic to Gary Johnson, but I think I’ll be supporting Virgil Goode for President.
I’m still going for Ron Paul, but I think we all know that that the GOP hierarchy wouldn’t let him win the nomination.

That’s why former Virginia Rep. Virgil Goode’s third-party presidential candidacy should be receiving more attention. The Democrat-turned-Republican congressman is campaigning on a platform of reducing immigration (legal and illegal), protecting Social Security and Medicare and balancing the budget immediately.
Really?
Goode is already getting a little publicity..

I’m very excited about Goode too – I have already changed my party registration to CP.
I do have qualms about working with any campaign where sensitive positions – treasurer – are held by family. Professionals should run the business, and there shouldn’t be a hint of potential improprieties.
He will have to reconcile his foreign policy/Patriot Act voting record with the non-interventionist/privacy rights planks in the CP platform. Any good and honest politician can say his views have evolved as long as there is logical thought process showing why he went from point A to B.
If Goode can keep a wing nut out of the VP slot and raise some serious money ($1 million), he’s got great promise of making the CP a third party of clout and longevity.
I wonder if Goode wins the CP nomination and Johnson wins the LP nomination if Root will give us a line on who does better?
I’m dreaming of a white homeland
Just like the ones I used to know
With illegals deported,
jobs no longer exported,
Israeli lobby told to go
I’m dreaming of a white homeland
With every comment that I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your descendants be white!
“Another item of interest from his new website is fund raising. As they begin he has a maximum limit of $200 per donor.”
This shouldn’t stop too many people from donating over that amount. As you said, he can still accept up to $400 from the contributor or $800 for a married man or woman. Anyone who wants to donate more–go to the party.
I have spent some time on his website yesterday as I also spent time on his congressional site back in ’08-’09. I first saw Mr.Goode on youtube making a speech outdoors in DC to some type of patriot group. I thought then he should run for POTUS someday. Well the day has come !
I know this time is exciting to some CP enthusiasts. Howard Phillips was (and is) a solid American, but Virgil Goode will be the highest elected official to ever seek the CP nomination! This does add creds to the CP. The excitement should be present and should make for a very positive year for the CP!
Now for my first impressions. Virgil should take advantage of being on Wall St. to RIP a new one in the BANKSTERS, but sadly I doubt that he will. Upon reading his website (to me it seems) he plans to run a campaign covering many issues, but with his main issues being suitable for someone running for the House of Reps not the White House. I found no BOLD colors to inspire me, more of plains and plaids. Virgil should take this advantage to say what he thinks and think what he says ! Unless he might be thinking of another Cong race. For you who don’t get what I’m saying, I’m saying a Rep has to represent his dist. not inspire people, he needs for people to like him so they will vote for him. A POTUS candidate needs to inspire people to vote for him. When you inspire some you alienate some also. Sometimes the inspiring comes because of the alienation of the others.
My ideal Goode campaign would be highly populist running against the GREED and CORRUPTION of the 1%. Not of envy for them being in the 1% but for their GREED and CORRUPTION as the 1% ! Goode knows there is an Eliest Group among that 1% that runs the Gov’t. As someone who is now no lo0nger in the gov’t Goode can ATTACK freely and at will, where he could not do so as a sitting congressman. From reading his site I see no BOLD moves in the future in that direction however. A firebrand populist could ignite a major following in these times, but someone running for another term in the House don’t “inspire” much gusto! His platform should please most CP members, I just had hoped for much more from Virgil in actually taking on the real ”
Powers that Be” in this country and the world!
Another item of interest from his new website is fund raising. As they begin he has a maximum limit of $200 per donor. That’s right $800.00 max from a wealthy couple (primary/general) instead of a possible $10,000 from the same couple. This is a POTUS race friends, limiting an already limited pool isn’t good! I think I understand the move (you do not have to send names/addresses/employers info/etc on $200 and less in donations). Saving his staff (his wife I guess) a tremebous amount of oversight (I don’t say work here as there are computer programs to do most all the work, but there is oversight required. So I can see that if that’s the reason, or his reason maybe nearer to Jerry Brown’s from a while back or a Buddy Roamers now, connecting with the common person and all, however in this day and time a TP candidate has to take the $2,500/$5,000 when availiable. There are just not enough $200/$200 donors within the LP/CP/GP or AnyTP to make ends meet! Travel/Lodging alone has over tripled in less than a decade. (with all this typed no one should forget, with Ron Paul’s endorsement Dr. Baldwin only raised and ran on less than $300K while gaining over 199K in votes. Not a bad job at all!)
So overall I’m glad for the CP and their friends. I do hope Goode will give it his all and turn some real HEAT onto Obama and the one’s who “pull his strings” and “fills his teleprompter” !!!
Carpe Diem !!!
Richard is on the money.
The venue is in front of Federal Hall, where George Washington was inaugurated for his first term in 1789. I think it’s just a coincidence that Federal Hall happens to be on Wall Street.
I wonder if the rumor of cold feet had anything to do with the timing, or was this date planned for a while.
It appears that Goode is going to run a heavily populist campaign. I think the choice of Wall Street to announce is probably intended to have some symbolic meaning.
