GP 2008 Prez candidate Cynthia McKinney: Shame on press already calling President Obama’s plan an “Exit Strategy”

Many in the special interest press are cynically reporting the President’s speech tonight as an “Afghanistan exit plan.” We have now reached the point where those who make and interpret current events think they can make us believe that war is for peace, ignorance is strength, slavery is freedom, and lies are the truth. Well, we know the truth, and we will not rest until every drone is stopped and no more bombs are dropped. We will not rest until peace is won. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said there comes a time when we do what we must because our ultimate measure is not where we stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where we stand at times of challenge and controversy. At this time of challenge, we are clear: we will not give up and we will not stop. –2008 Green Party Presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney

I don’t get many opportunities to say good things about Cynthia McKinney, so better do when I have the chance: You go, girl!

Yes, although that doesn’t prove anything – some bodies were never recovered, some people may have never been reported missing, etc.

Is there a long list of missing people remaining from that event?

Thank you to Kimberly. Katrina was a terrible mess. Just horrible what those people went through, and I thank you for responding. I knew a man who went down to NO to help with the cleanup, and the fellow never came home, and wasn’t heard from again. I’d sure like to see some accountability about what really happened in the aftermath of that tragedy, and let the chips fall where they may. I wonder if anyone could get an investigation opened up on that matter? I’ll look around and see if anyone is working on that score. Thank you again for responding.

    Respectfully yours,

    Dear Janet,

As far as I can tell, Cynthia McKinney does not read this blog. So, she probably won’t see your question.

I have studied the situation you spoke of carefully.

First of all, Cynthia McKinney clearly said she was bringing out a concern based on something reported to her. She was not claiming it was true. She was claiming that people had concerns, and they should be investigated.

Second of all, news did come out that was probably what was behind those reports. In New Orleans, after Katrina, there were bands of white vigilantes who hunted down black people and shot and killed them. That is probably the missing piece to the puzzle.

    Glad you are paying attention.

Shame on the press? Indeed. Shame on them for so much, but with a dying “super-power” perhaps the failure of our MSM is predictable. Ms. McKinney ~ I would like more information about something you said before the ’08 election. You said that thousands of NO prisoners had been shot in the head and “dumped in the swamp.” I am still waiting for you to show any proof of that, as I do not take such charges lightly. It’s now been over a year. If your charges are true they need to be followe4d up upon. Otherwise, you need to publicly retract that statement. It is unfair to poor people in this country to let such claims stand. Thank you.

    Sincerely yours,
    Janet Detwiler

I hate all the Green Party programs for more government but I can only admire their ongoing efforts to call a warmonger a warmonger.
