From Richard Winger at Ballot Access News:
On November 2, Joe Visconti, independent candidate for Governor of Connecticut, said he is dropping out of the race. He also endorsed the Republican nominee. Of course, Visconti’s name will still be on the ballot, and the votes for him will be counted. See this story.
From the article cited, written by Christopher Keating:
Visconti said he was dropping out because he doesn’t want to see Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy re-elected.
“If I can’t be governor, I want to help Tom be governor,” Visconti said.
Foley said Visconti called him late Saturday afternoon, and they met privately at Visconti’s mother’s house in West Hartford Saturday evening.
“That was the first time I talked to Joe since our debate in New London, so it was a surprise to me,” Foley said Sunday.
