West Virginia U.S. Senate Debate Will Include All Five Candidates

Phil Hudok, Constitution Party candidate for Senate

From Ballot Access News:

West Virginia Public Television will hold a second televised U.S. Senate debate. The second one will include all five candidates who are on the ballot. The first one was limited to just the Democratic and Republican nominees. See this press release.

The five candidates are the nominees of the Democratic, Republican, Green (Mountain), Libertarian, and Constitution Parties. Thanks to Jeff Becker for the link.

Here’s the press release from West Virginia Public Broadcasting:

West Virginia Public Broadcasting is planning to conduct a second televised debate later this month for West Virginia’s candidates for U.S. Senate.

The date will be set depending on candidate availability and will be moderated by West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s assistant news director Ashton Marra. Candidates are being contacted now about their schedules.

This would be the second statewide television debate, after Tuesday’s planned debate featuring Republican Rep. Shelley Moore Capito and Democratic W.Va. Secretary of State Natalie Tennant.

“Nothing has changed about Tuesday’s debate,” said Scott Finn, executive director of West Virginia Public Broadcasting. “We’ve decided it would also be in the best interest of West Virginians to hear from all five candidates on the ballot, if those candidates choose to participate.”

The debate will be held at West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s studios in Charleston. No audience will allowed in the studio, only certified media and the candidates.

The debate will be recorded and played back that evening on West Virginia PBS, West Virginia Public Radio, and wvpublic.org
