Libertarian Party of the Florida Keys endorses no candidates for August’s elections

8/20/14 – Key West, FL

Ahead of August 26th’s local elections for many non-partisan offices in Key West and Monroe County, Libertarian Party of the Florida Keys Chairman Mike Kane released the following statement:

After much discussion and review, the Libertarian Party of the Florida Keys has decided not to endorse any candidates for Augusts’ elections. It was a consensus among all members that no candidate took the Libertarian approach to solving today’s societal woes: reducing the size and scope of government.

Rather than addressing important Libertarian issues, such as ending the failed war on drugs, reducing property and sales taxes, marriage equality until government is out of marriage licensing altogether, advocating for jury nullification, and the eventual privatizing of schools, most candidates are incredibly vague with their campaign slogans such as “increasing transparency in government”, “restoring trust in city hall”, and “setting high standards”.

Some candidates are focused on making government work more efficiently, and even worse, other candidates want to further expand government’s control over the economy, education, and people’s personal lives.

Until candidates are willing to promote Libertarian solutions to bad governance we cannot in good faith support them.

The Libertarian Party of the Florida Keys is supporting Libertarian candidates Adrian Wyllie (Governor) and Bill Wohlsifer (Attorney General).

Well, I guess that’s at least some local news coverage, so that’s good.

The Key West Citizen picked up the press release and although heavily trimmed down, published this write up in Monday’s edition:

“No candidate took the Libertarian approach to solving today’s societal woes: reducing the size and scope of government,” said chairman Mike Kane in a news release Thursday.

The new group met Wednesday to take a consensus on the primary. The Keys group is supporting Libertarian candidates Adrian Wyllie for governor and Bill Wohlsifer for attorney general.

Adrian Wyllie deserves my vote and yours too. He is a honest average Floridian just as you and I , that is willing to stand up and do something for the interest of all of us here in Florida. The other candidates both Republican and Democrat are owned and controlled by special interest, like puppets and will lie to your face to gain your vote, then continue the same old agenda that we complain about year after year. Time to get off this merry-go-round, election after election, thinking it will be any different. Take a stand, vote for the candidate that loves this state and is willing to take time out of his life, effort and money to SERVE the people of Florida and stop voting for these ‘paid for’ career politicians that are only out for money and fame and have zero interest in us Floridians. Even if it’s just for honesty alone, vote for Adrian Wyllie instead of the other two (Scott/Crist) which are proven liars. The choice is yours and yours alone, if you want the same old corruption and slap in the face, go ahead and vote for one of the two puppets (Scott/Crist) OR do what is right for our (yours and your children’s) future and vote for Adrian Wyllie. Support him by donating to his campaign, spreading the word and contribute to the super brochure program which I think is very powerful. Visit his website today.
