In 2013, a Constitution Party leader down in Texas by the name of Daniel New (father of Michael New, the soldier who refused to wear the U.N. uniform back in the late 90′s) sent out an email. He was promoting the idea of everyone holding an Independence Day event on the steps of their local county courthouse at which, among other things, the full Declaration of Independence is read aloud. It is becoming a Constitution Party of Texas tradition. We think it time that this idea spreads throughout the land, therefore we are issuing –
A CALL TO ACTION
The Constitution Party hereby encourages all its members, supporters, and like-minded Constitutionists to gather at every county courthouse on Independence Day 2014 and take time out to read the Declaration of Independence aloud. In some ancient cultures it was a tradition to gather periodically to read aloud the law of the land to the people. What better way to remind Americans of the reasons why the colonies broke away from English rule and established the United States of America that to read the document that set forth the principles which led to the formation of a new nation, a new Constitution, a Bill of Rights, and a new idea of Liberty.
If the average American citizen does not know what Liberty and Independence are, if we do not understand the rights and duties of citizenship, if we do not remember our own history, we are doomed to lose our freedom and our identity as a unique nation, dedicated to the proposition that, under the law, all Men are Created Equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that government exists to protect those rights , and when they cease to protect them, it is our duty as a free people, to change that government. Nothing we may do on Independence Day is more important that taking the opportunity to remind ourselves, teach our future generations, and re-commit ourselves to these truths.
It only takes an hour of your day to gather, read, and share the spirit of the day before you head off to the lake or park or other festivities to celebrate Independence. Call or email your friends. Invite other organizations to spread the word. Put a notice in the local paper. Post a few flyers in local stores. Keep it simple and start a new tradition in your community. It’s time for Americans to take back their nation, restore the American Constitutional Republic, and start living Liberty in their hearts, their homes, their communities and thereby their state and nation.
