Libertarian Party Funding Petition Drive in Alabama

At my request, the Libertarian National Committee approved spending $12,500 for ballot access in Alabama.

Will you contribute to help cover just a portion of that?

The great news:

Last year a libertarian PAC provided $10,000 to help the Libertarian Party get on the ballot in Jefferson County, the most populous county in Alabama. That provided a huge boost in Alabama. And now we’re working to expand the petitioning effort to five more counties in Alabama. That will allow us to put a Libertarian Party candidate for Congress on the Alabama ballot for the first time since 2002.

We think a state-wide petition is too expensive at this time. That’s why we’re focusing on just a portion of the state.

In addition to a candidate for Congress, ballot access in Jefferson plus five other counties will provide the Libertarian Party the opportunity to run:

•dozens of county-level candidates
•18 state house candidates
•6 state senate candidates

The Jefferson County petition, which is already complete, required 6,300 valid signatures. The other five counties will require about 5,000 valid signatures. LNC representative Paul Frankel, reports they’ve already collected about 1,800 signatures, but typically around 60% to 80% of raw signatures are considered valid by the election authorities, so we’ll need well over 5,000 raw signatures.

Libertarian PACs are few and far between, so it’s great to have had a PAC help the Libertarian Party get on the ballot in one county. I hope you’ll help support our efforts to expand ballot access in Alabama by donating today.
