Dear Friend of Liberty,
There’s been lots of news coverage, political posturing, and heated debate over the president’s closing and barricading of the World War II Memorial during the government so-called “shutdown.” Many people, including WWII Veterans, have crossed the barricades in defiance.
Of course, we know this is only a temporary 27 percent slowdown, not an across-the-board shutdown.
In any case, I walked by the memorial on Sunday afternoon to take a look for myself. It’s only about a mile from our Libertarian Party headquarters.
According to Wikipedia, the federal government provided only $16 million of the $197 million raised to build the memorial. Other funding came from veterans groups and other individuals and businesses. The memorial is administered by the National Park Service.
The obvious question is, “are Libertarians for, or against, closing the World War II Memorial during government shutdowns?”
But I’m not comfortable with that question. Here’s my question, and I’m interested in your answer.

I had the same thought.
I wish there would have been an option to vote for 3, 4, 5, and 6. They’re certainly not mutually exclusive.
No, more that it could have been avoided, which is true.
I do so love that there’s an option to change history so WWII never happened.
Why in the LNC wasting its time on Republican propaganda points?
The closure is who is paying the maintenance operation budget, not who paid the construction workers for their fine work. How will the monument be cleaned while it is open? Good stonework is fragile and subject to permanent damage if spills are not cleaned reasonably
promptly.
Chris – “LP.org” is better than “Lp.org” since LP is already an acronym.
