Constitution Party Statement on Common Core

The following statement on Common Core is taken from the Constitution Party Facebook page:

The Constitution Party opposes all forms of federal government involvement in education. There is no Constitutional authority granted to Congress, the President, or to the Supreme Court to control education in this nation. Under the 10th Amendment, that is the job of the people of the individual states. Common Core is even beginning to spread its tentacles to private schools.

It’s part of the international Marxist conspiracy.

You are correct Tom. This is the wrong argument in this case.

Interesting statement, but there’s one problem with it: Common Core isn’t a federal government program. Its sponsors/developers are the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers, and adoption, non-adoption or modification of it is entirely up to each state.

That’s not to say Common Core is a good thing, but even if it’s a bad thing it’s not a bad federal government thing.

So WHY does the C.P hypocritically assume any form of federal government authority for involvement in drug enforcement or in marriage, for that matter?
