Constitution Party Newsletter: November 2012

Here are some bits and pieces from the Constitution Party newsletter, dated November 20, 2012. First from their presidential candidate:

Thank you from Virgil Goode…
I hope that within the next several weeks we will be able to get the write-in results from 18 states, which I anticipate will increase our vote totals. … I believe that we will have the lowest cost per vote of any of the parties ….

Next from the party’s national chair, Frank Huckiger:

… In the 26 states in which Goode and Clymer were on the ballot, the vote total thus far is 118,272. South Dakota … with the highest vote percentage … 2,371 votes for 0.65% [more than] the 1,895 votes … in 2008. Coming in second was the state of Wyoming with 1,452 votes for 0.59%.

And here’s an interesting attempt to compete with the LP and the GOP for young supporters of a certain presidential candidate:

Ron Paul has done a phenomenal job of engaging the young people of this nation with his message of liberty. It is the intent of the Young Constitutionalists to tap into the energy that was created by the Ron Paul movement and to give young people the direction and tools they need to accomplish the task of saving their future.

The newsletter also touts the upcoming national committee meeting in St. Louis, 11/30 to 12/1.

Notice by the way that this is how an article written per my proposed guidelines might look. This way adds some original content from the author, minimizes copying from the source, and links to that source.
More original content would be better, but I’m a little flat this morning.

Seems like an attempt to place a shine on a rather DULL performance. Chuck Baldwin received HIGHER vote totals than Barr the LP candidate in TEN states. Goode was swamped everywhere by Gary Johnson except MI where Johnson was shafted by the SOS there and had only write-in status.

I guess taking pride in spending LESS money per vote received is something, however IMO the object should be to raise the most money possible to receive MORE votes. Overall I saw little of Goode and heard LESS. Which helped to mean ONLY 26 state access, a major decline from ’08.

The Chuck Baldwin campaign was the high water mark of the CP and if something doesn’t happen soon the grind of tilting at the ol’ windmills may get the CP as it has gotten so many other alternatives in the past! Without Ballot Access in CA, TX, IL, GA, NC and many more it means LESS influence even among alternative Parties.

Goode performance proves once again that an ex-Congressman does not guarantee good performance. In the eternal quest by third parties for a big name, I believe a celebrity, or someone from the pundit class, or a rich person who can self fund are likely to be more sucessful.

I believe Darrell Castle would have done better. At least he is very aware of what is required to run an alternative party campaign and is an excellent spokesman for the party to boot.

Red you make a great point, proven this very year by Roseanne Barr and her 58-60K plus votes. If the Greenies had nominated her I think she would have came close to 1M or even over. She beat Rocky Anderson and he was a smoothe experienced liberal pol with more ballot access! Most people who post here don’t care for Roseanne, but to be truthful she had millions of TV followers(viewers) who loved her and her TV family for many years! Most of those viewers would eat that redistribution garbage she is spheeing (sic?) up and would have voted for her if she was on their ballot!

I too feel Castle is one of the better spokemen for the CP, but he doesn’t have the fund$ to carry the Party. The CP is up against it.

To be truthful I think the MSM ignores the CP more than it does the LP and GP. That harms the CP to a greater degree. I guess that is due to the liberal anti-God bias that does exist in the majority of the media. Never doubt that the major media is owned and controlled, total LACKEYS for the Duopoly that runs this country. Hence no Party that challenges that duopoly control will receive much help from them.

“That a New World Order is emerging is not in question. The only question is, What will freedom-loving Americans do about it? Of course, the first thing they have to do is admit that an emerging New World Order exists! Until conservatives, Christians, pastors, constitutionalists, and others who care about a sovereign, independent United States acknowledge the reality of an emerging New World Order, they will be incapable of opposing it. And right now, that is exactly what they are not doing.”
    Chuck Baldwin – January 27, 2009

Or because the CP has less ballot access, has never had candidates that got anywhere near a million votes, has run and elected far fewer candidates than the LP and GP, has fewer registered voters when we don’t count AIP in CA, is not part of an international movement, etc, etc.

    LOL-International Movement – LOL

LOL – Dang Otis, break 1M votes in over 40 years trying and some folks have gone GIDDY – LOL

    International Movement – LOL

What’s so funny? Greens and libertarians are both international movements. Constitution Party is not.

break 1M votes in over 40 years

In seven different races this year alone, and don’t forget Monds in Georgia last time.

What does the Constitution Party stand for?

    […]Promote Pro-family Policies

Please promote them with something other than the threat of government guns.

Restore the United States to “One Nation Under God”

I thought that was Saudi Arabia? Or perhaps Spain in the days of Torquemada? Salem during the witch trials?

    Comprehensive Immigration Reform

    ……in the completely wrong direction.

  9. Andy

“In seven different races this year alone, and don’t forget Monds in Georgia last time.”

There were a couple of candidates in Texas in 2008 that also broke 1 million votes.

  10. Rob

2012 was very telling for the CP. They got beat handily by the LP in both VA (Goode’s own state) and NV (the CP’s strongest affiliate). We’ll see them around in ’16 and ’20 but with ever-decreasing ballot access.

The Greens and the LP is where the growth in third parties will be.
