Thanks, gleaned most of that from preceding comments, but I did not know an updated map was already in the newsletter. They should put the updated map on their website if it is already available. I’d still like to know if there is a way I can make one myself without too much trouble. Connecticut is abbreviated CT, not CN.

The above map is quite outdated. For a a more updated map, you would need to view the most current newsletter of the CP, Issue #12. On that map, Virgil Goode is also an official write-in in California, Alaska, Delaware, Kansas, and Kentucky. There are only six states in which Goode can not be written in:
Those are HI, ME, OK, AR, MA, and CN.
the majority of “write-in” votes NEVER make it to the SOS’ office for final tabulation. In rural areas especially they go into the garbage can, PRONTO!
This is true.
Kentucky should be blue — they are qualified for write-in there.
I’d like to make my own maps to update this. Anyone recommend a way to do so easily?
I’m predicting the Presidential results will exceed 2008 and be the best in terms of raw vote totals and percentages, ever.
I don’t see that happening.
Goode does not seem to have nearly as much support from Ron Paul grassroots as Baldwin did, many people who found Barr to be unacceptable find Johnson to be acceptable – and many people who thought Baldwin was OK or even great don’t much care for Goode. His ballot access is considerably worse. He’s not polling well in VA or anywhere else. I haven’t seen much by way of an active campaign reported – how many media interviews has he had? How many campaign stops? How much of a social media presence? He has skipped most of the alt party debates, although he’s been in two and will be in one more – there have been several others he could have been in. A lot of people, even here in the deep south, think he talks “funny” (not in a good way).
True, he was in congress for 12 years, but very few people know about that, even in other parts of Virginia, much less any other states.
Romney vs. Obama looks to be pretty close here in the last week and change, which will hurt all other candidates, and Johnson is the leader for the “other” vote, followed by Stein. I would say Goode is a distant third among alt candidates.
If he hopes to appeal to the Reagan conservatives or the far right that are not Ron Paul diehards, those people by and large seem to think than an Obama second term is the end of civilization, and relatively few of them understand safe state/swing state dynamics.
Bottom line, I do not think Goode will do well when compared with past CP presidential candidates.

I’m interested to see how many write-ins Goode gets in NC, WV, GA, CA, IL, and PA. I’m also interested to see the raw vote total in NY and VA.

“Damn, looks like on a federal scale, its not going to be a great year for us 🙁 Hopefully the CP will do better then it did in 2000.”
I’m predicting the Presidential results will exceed 2008 and be the best in terms of raw vote totals and percentages, ever. This is even without California and Pennsylvania. New York should supply some votes that previously were missing and Virginia should make for a nice lump sum too.

While I am a Gary Johnson supporter (and presidential elector here in Arizona) I disagree with the reasoning found above. If you are going to vote I fully support any given voter in any given state to vote for a write-in candidate of their own choice. Here in Arizona the government doesn’t do as good a job as it should of tallying write-in votes. In 2010 the Libertarian Party sued the Maricopa county election department in order to let them know that their poor job was not unnoticed. Regardless of your political party affiliation I encourage people to write-in your candidate of choice and if you believe it isn’t counted to let your government know that you expect your vote to be accurately counted. How you let the government know is up to you. It could be a phone call, it could be a in person visit, it could be a letter or it could be a lawsuit if you can locate a sympathetic lawyer.
Letting government employees slack off is no kind of solution.
The CP is in decline. This is a good year for CP members and friends in non-official ballot access states (CA, TX, IL, PA, GA, NC, AZ, IN, MA, MD, TN, KY, CT, OR, AR, KS, NE, WV, HI, ME, AK, VT, DE and DC) to send your anti-establishment protest through the Highly Qualified LP candidate.
Be honest friend, the majority of “write-in” votes NEVER make it to the SOS’ office for final tabulation. In rural areas especially they go into the garbage can, PRONTO! They are WASTED time and effort.
Have your protest at least counted – pull that lever or mark that ballot for Highly Successful Gov. Gary Johnson the most QUALIFIED candidate in this race !!! Each vote against the Duopoly NEEDS to be counted, don’t WASTE your vote with a write-in. It WON’T be counted !!! We need to keep the winner UNDER 50% of the vote, so if you are in one of the states listed above please consider voting for Gov. Gary Johnson to ensure your vote is counted – Thanks!

Trent- The CP was not willing to pay what it takes to make the ballot in the states you mentioned. Until they figure it out that without ballot access you really are not a serious party they will languish.

Can’t believe CP didn’t make the ballot in Alaska, Kentucky, Nebraska, Montana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Arkansas. They should have made all of the above.
The California situation is frustrating for them and there really seems to be no option. The SoS has essentially made the AIP into a dictatorship.

I have two updates. According to the Connecticut Secretary of State’s final list of registered write-in candidates, Virgil Goode is NOT listed as a presidential write-in option in Connecticut. However, candidates like Tom Hoefling, Stephen Durham, and Jill Stein did qualify using that method.

True in every state, as far as I know – certainly most of them, but probably all.

Any other additional updates on this map?
As of Friday, California is a certified write in for California and Virgil Goode.
