From Ballot Access News,
On September 19, Free & Equal announced that Gary Johnson, Jill Stein, and Virgil Goode have each agreed to participate in a presidential debate on October 23, Tuesday, at 8 p.m. central time. Free & Equal is sponsoring the debate. The Republican and Democratic nominees are also invited but it is very likely they will not attend. The last debate between the Democratic and Republican nominees will have been on October 22.
Free & Equal invited every candidate who was either on the ballot in states containing a majority of the electoral vote, or who have registered at 1% in a national opinion poll.
The event will be at the University Club of Chicago.

And at 100% in Constitution Party polls! 🙂
Over 1% in at least some national polls.

Rocky Anderson (Justice Party) and Peta Lindsay (PSL) are also on the ballot for more electoral votes than Hoefling, and Roseanne Barr is tied with him.
Stewart Alexander (SPUSA) and James Harris (SWP) are on the ballot in more states, but not more electoral votes.
Merlin Miller (A3p), Jerry White (SEP) and independent Randall Terry are on the ballot in as many states as Hoefling.
I am not sure why Goode was included, either. I don’t buy “certified” write-ins. Either you can win in the Electoral College or you can’t. It really IS that simple.
@4
Not on enough state ballots to have a mathematical chance to win the electon
Not at 1% or more in any national poll
Why is F& E excluding Tom Hoefling. He is on the ballot in California (largest state in the union).
End the exclusion, now!
Sincerely, Mark Seidenberg, Vice Chairman
American Independent Party of California
It will be better than the debate between Chuck Baldwin and Ralph Nader. I look forward to watching it. All three have major differences on key issues, and it will be a good opportunity for them to distinguish themselves. I’m glad Johnson isn’t going the Barr route (pun not intended), and avoid debates to ‘appear’ legitimate.
I see Tobin is trying to be relevant again…
Glad they took my advice and decided to let Goode in.
