Sounded like an endorsement to me too! If you say someone else whom you have supported should endorse Gary Johnson, as Alex Jones said Ron Paul should, and you further say as he did that “people should get behind” Gary Johnson, I think it’s pretty much a given that you support him yourself.
I used to think Alex Jones was a bit too conspiracy-oriented, but the last few times I’ve listened to him he’s sounded increasingly solid and on-target in his remarks. I think he’s right to be focusing on the warning signs of an incipient police state, and further commend him for supporting Gary Johnson and having him on the air.
I thought Alex Jones endorsed Gary Johnson when he interviewed him last month.
Drew Carey, Clint Eastwood, Vince Vaughn are a few that I can think of off the top of my head.
It sounded to me like Jones did endorse Johnson.
As far as celebrity endorsements here are some ideas:
Advocates for Self Government used to maintain a list of libertarian celebrities (some questionable but so be it) – search archive.org for theadvocates.org —
MPP has a celebrity outreach person. Or at least used to. Anyone they have identified may be worth approaching to see how they feel about endorsing Johnson.
You could also start by searching for celebs who have endorsed Ron Paul.
As far as getting a hold of people, some of that is public information, some is persistence, some is luck.
If you get other well known people to contact them you may be able to get through more easily. So once you have identified any celeb endorsers see if they are willing to become “recruiters” of others, make youtube spots and/or appearances on behalf of the campaign and so on.
For example Penn Jillette, Jesse Ventura, any others?
I haven’t heard Johnson gets as worked up as he did toward the end of the show, like when he was talking about Bloomberg’s stupid proposal to ban large sweet drinks. The extra passion becomes him.
I haven’t heard enough of his speeches to say this was his best, but it was for better than the one with Jon Stewart, although he didn’t suck on that one. He just seemed a bit nervous.
Maybe he had talked to Jones before, or wasn’t intimidated or something. Perhaps he’s just getting more used to it.
Thanks for posting this. I listened to it yesterday looking to see if Alex unequivocally endorsed Gary. It’s close in the last 3 minutes or so (he clearly states he is NOT endorsing Romney). But I’ve written to him asking for a clearer statement.
What do you ALL think? Did Alex Jones endorse Gary Johnson in this interview?
Is this the best interview Gary has given?
What celebrities would you like to see endorse Gary Johnson/Judge Gray?
(and — of course — Do you have contact info for them?!?!)
Joe
Gary seems quite relaxed during this interview, and he manages to pack a lot of excellent information into his time with Alex Jones. He seems to be speaking up for himself better than he did, for example, on Jon Stewart’s show.
