Virgil Goode Polling 5% in Virginia

Virgil Goode is a former Congressman from Virginia as well as the current Presidential nominee of the Constitution Party. He has lived in Virginia all his life and the family name “Goode” means something in the area due to he and his father’s political careers. Now Public Policy Polling has found that Goode scores 5% against Obama and Romney in Virginia, even when an “Other” option is included.

Another interesting angle in Virginia is the candidacy of former Congressman Virgil Goode as the Constitution Party candidate for President. We find him polling at 5% in a three way contest with Obama’s lead over Romney expanding to 12 points at 50-38. It seems unlikely Goode would ultimately get 5% but anything he gets could help flip the state to Obama given how small Romney’s margin for error there is. Goode gets 10% from those describing themselves as ‘very conservative,’ suggesting that Romney does still have some work to do with the far right.

As always, the disclaimer here is that polling numbers for third parties and independents tend to decline as we approach election day.

    Agreed.

Cody–I dont think Goode doing better than Baldwin is a sure thing, but I think it’s pretty likely.

Getting on the PA and CA ballot would help a lot.

‘LISTEN’, you are an idiot! LDS constitutionalist voters are not tribalistic or stupid! And even many conservative Republicans in Utah will not cast a vote for Romney. If you were actually right about LDS voters supporting their own kind, then Harry Reid would win Lincoln County (which is over 50% LDS) every time he’s up for reelection.
    But he never does.

Another thing, the only BS the media, or bigots like you, would spew against the LDS faith is the same recycled BS that is either historically or factually inaccurate and easily gets shot down by the LDS apologists. So keep dreaming your idiot dreams, because they’re not going to happen.

Goode will do better in Utah then Baldwin did in 08′, DEAL WITH IT.

Not everyone in Utah is LDS. Goode should still do very well there since Obama has no chance to carry the state anyway. Absent the concern about “a vote for anybody but Romney is a vote for Obama” alternative nominees get a fair look.

  6. @5 – Not as well as ’08. With a mormon a top the R ticket you (CP) will LOSE votes in UT this cycle. That’s just the way things work. The CP can set records in most states however due to Romney being the nom. There will be some “potent” material coming out on mormon belief and practice in the months ahead and frankly some of the stuff will seem quite UNbelievable but the deeper the digging the weirder it will get. Wait and see !!!

The Rs have stepped into hockey quicksand this time. It is well deserved however for their sins of the past. GUT the pac’ederm and let’em SINK to the bottom……..

This man Romney is a SHAM artist ! He’ll say or do anything to be elected !! No moral fortitude or compass !!!

Imagine how well he’ll do in Utah.

  8. Steven Wilson May 1, 2012

His voting record in support of Bush will eventually get him back done to the CP 1%. At least Alan Keyes or Laurie Roth aren’t at the mic.

  9. Jed Siple May 1, 2012

Oh no doubt, it’s quite an achievement.

  10. Trent Hill Post author | May 1, 2012

Jed–likely not. But the CP’s presidential candidate has never polled that much, anywhere. Best previous polling, to my knowledge, was Chuck Baldwin at 1% in Utah.

No way that’ll hold ’til November.
