    Howe and her husband of several decades shred their marriage licenses in protest in support of marriage equality, Tuesday May 29 at 11 am with other married couples at the General Assembly building in Raliegh

    @1

    I heard about these protests but didn’t know LP candidates had taken that step. I applaud their passion for each other and their act of refusal.

    @1 – So is she calling for a seperation of marriage and state?

    Who is Mrs. Howe? What kind of political and executive experience does she have?

    Now that is effective and newsworthy campaigning likely to get a Libertarian candidate for public office some positive press (not to mention inspire some young pro-freedom voters and activists)!

    If this is the kind of thing she’s been doing in North Carolina, it’s no wonder Barbara Howe is polling 7%. Go Barbara!

    Not very relevant at 7% in the spring. What’s much more relevant at this point is messaging, ability to communicate our ideas effectively and get noticed. Shredding marriage license is a good example. It’s a protest that works to illustrate both the short term goal (marriage equality) as well as the long term goal (separation of marriage and state).

    If she has run a good-size business or something along those lines, that could help her build on that 7% .
