The Constitution Party Chairmanship Race

Long time Constitution Party Chairman Jim Clymer is stepping down and will not be seeking re-election. This means his seat will be up for election at this week’s CP national convention. So far the only announced candidate is Randall “Randy” Stufflebeam of Illinois. According to an email from Mr. Stufflebeam, he doesn’t know of anyone else who is planning to seek the office, but a candidate could declare at the last minute. Party officers are elected by the CP National Committeemen.

I suspect the LP convention will have frequent updates so I am just asking if the CP convention will be accorded similar treatment. (The Greens as well, for that matter.)

I traveled to the Green convention in 2008 hoping to cover it for IPR, but was not able to find much access to computers while I was there and by the time I came back from it I was tired and had stacks of hand written notes, so it wasn’t really all that effective.

Even if I could afford the time and expense of traveling to multiple party conventions just to cover them for IPR, I don’t think I would be very effective at it unless I had my own laptop, which I don’t.

I seriously doubt any other IPR writers will be going to any party conventions to cover them for IPR that they will not be going to already as delegates.

It would be cool if someone did, but I certainly would not expect it.

“I agree with NF, the CP and GP should be allowed access to IPR on updates from their convention. I guess the problem might be getting a couple of people to help out.”

It’s an issue of finding people to help, definitely. We have two exclusively CP correspondents, but neither are at the convention. Still, I have a number of moles :P. I’ll be posting things.

NewFed–we’re hoping to have several updates from the convention.

Jim has served long enough anyways. But I do wonder indeed if anyone else is going to throw their hat in.

Are there going to be any live or near live updates from the convention? It begins today. I suspect the LP convention will have frequent updates so I am just asking if the CP convention will be accorded similar treatment. (The Greens as well, for that matter.)

I would wonder why there isn’t a race for the Chairmanship. I mean, not even Diane Templin is running; that’s weird.

I wonder why Darrell Castle isn’t interested?

I have met Mr. Stuffelbeam and had the opportunity to campaign and vote for him twice. As a member of the Constitution Party he would be my first and only choice for party chair.
