On February 6th, in the afternoon, “Green Party” is trending on Yahoo.
Also, a New Jersey media outlet is reporting that in the poll of TMZ (a celebrity gossip website), Roseanne Barr for President is trailing Obama by only 3%. And, the news story also lists by name Green Party Watch, and the other nominees for Green Party President 2012 (Jill Stein, Kent Mesplay and Harley Mikkelson).

Comedian Roseanne Barr seeking Green Party presidential nomination
Monday, 06 February 2012 07:16
An informal TMZ opinion poll has Roseanne trailing President Barack Obama by only three percent, 39 percent to 36 percent, with Mitt Romney coming in at 25 percent…*
*Note: Some sites are reporting the poll as Barack Obama 38% to Roseanne Barr 35%.

I thought the GP was on over 40 states on a regular basis. Perhaps they will get it in gear this year with such a big name and get even more than normal.
I would love to see Barr and Johnson both set records for their respective Party. Iirc that could mean ballot access pickups in many states. Saving money and manhours next election on that ball and chain BA!
Johnson is still talking as if he is running to WIN. I say BRAVO, he’s never lost before so he intends to put forth a major effort. All LP members should do the same. Everyone knows the LP needs it !!!!!

Attention Illinois, those who know people in Illinois… those who can help get the word out…
Illinois Green Party Nominations… They ask for a 25$ Green Party registration, but just check the “fees waver” box for those who cannot pay.
You’ll have to use the “write in” option and type in ROSEANNE BARR
[It takes about 3 minutes to do.] Nominations are open until the 19th of February.
Vote for Roseanne Barr as a write-in candidate on the Illinois Green Party primary ballot http://www.ilgp.org/ primary-ballot/
tween Roseanne Barr & Jill Stein, it’ll be a diller!
Roseanne Barr’s media appearances as a Green candidate are on her site. She seems to be doing pretty well.

My guess — but it’s only a guess — is that if Roseanne Barr is the Green nominee and Gary Johnson is the LP nominee, Barr will poll about twice as many votes as Johnson. About a million for her, about half a million for him.
I thought that might be it, but the 37/47 number made me think it could have been a reference to 2008, when Barr had 45 states. Barr came in ahead of McKinney though. Or maybe 2004 – 48 states plus DC for the LP, but the LP came in ahead. I also thought it may have been a prediction for this year, although we don’t know how many states either party will have yet. In no case was it 37/47.
In 2000 – Nader was on 44 ballots – Browne on 50
Nader 2,883,105
Browne 384,516
@16 – they may be referring to 1996 when Ralph Nader was the GP nominee – he was only on 22 ballots.
Harry Browne was on all 51 ballots.
Ralph Nader/Winona LaDuke (Green) 685,297 (0.71%)
Harry Browne/Jo Jorgensen (Libertarian) 485,798 (0.50%)
Dunno. That will depend on who the LP candidate is (probably Johnson now, but someone else could still enter the race) and what kind of campaign each of them runs.
What year was that?
If Roseanne Barr gets the nomination of the Green Party will she gets more votes than the Libertarian Party nominee? A Green Party candidate for President which was on the ballot in about 37 states received more votes than the Libertarian Party candidate which was on the ballot in about 47 states. Ouch!
Rocky Anderson should be the Green Party nominee but I doubt he’ll get it. Roseanne Barr should look at him for a VP nomination, but I doubt he goes for it. I think it’d be great if Roseanne Barr got the Green Party nomination.
On reading the Link above Roseanne seems serious and committed to this effort. Can only add to a very interesting cycle ! All other TPs need to get it in gear as no doubt the GP plans to put forth a serious effort.
Doctor Stein, almost 100% on Ohio GP convention.
Rosanne Barr has broken the Green Party blackout that we normally see in U.S. Media. That is a huge plus. If you haven’t read Rosanne’s filing papers with the Green Party, please do. She has always been a gifted writer. Her intelligence, common sense, common man and woman touch are on display. Rosanne Barr is all good for the Green Party. Rosanne makes vastly more sense than the neocons and bushies ever did.
If you don’t see that Roseanne Barr is a ticking time bomb as a candidate then you haven’t being paying any attention the last 20 years. Though I suppose it is possible that they have found a good balance of meds to keep her calm for a little while at least.
@7 Agreed.
I really can’t think of a down side to Roseanne Barr’s candidacy.
As the Green Party’s nominee, she would likely do as well or better than the last few, and I suspect she’ll be more savvy about how she handles the media that most people expect.
The LP would also benefit from her candidacy to the extent that from here on out, when people refer to a Barr running for president, they will forget all about Bob 2008.
I’m thinking about her rendition of the National Anthem in San Diego… classic!
#4 Ad Hoc-
Those were solid, well thought out, reasonable answers in that questionnaire. She, however, would be a ticking time bomb in interviews, tweets, and whatever other form of media lends itself to off the cuff remarks.
I don’t see why you think Roseanne Barr would damafe the brand. She seems serious to me. Have you read this?

And on an entirely irrelevant note, Harvey Levin (who runs TMZ and is the guy talking to the ‘people on the street’ on People’s Court) is the absolute worst. Well maybe not compared to Perez Hilton but they aren’t far apart.
I couldn’t think of a more meaningless poll. While Barr would get a lot more publicity for the GP I think she wouldn’t do any better than Stein in vote total. And Stein won’t permanently damage the brand, which doesn’t need any more damage.
Having said that I think her getting in the nomination contest is a good thing for the GP, so long as she doesn’t actually become the nominee.
In my own informal poll, Milnes leads all comers with 73% of the vote. Jesus polls second at 12%.
Seriously, this poll means nothing. Expect it to get some attention in the Green blogosphere, though.
