Louisiana statewide candidate filings include Libertarian, Reform and independent candidates

Candidate filing for Louisiana’s statewide election has closed. Ten candidates are running for Governor: one Republican, four Democrats, one Libertarian, and four independents.

For Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, and Treasurer, only Republicans filed. For Agriculture & Forestry Commissioner, there is one Republican, one Democrat, and one Reform Party member running. For Insurance Commissioner there is one Republican and one Democrat.

    The Louisiana BTP has endorsed:
    Scott Lewis for Governor (LP)
    Peter Vidrine for State Rep. 38th District (GOP)
    &
    W. David Chance for State Senate 45th District (LP)

    It is not state-wide, but filing also was closed the same day for all local and legislative offices. We also have a candidate for State House District 45 (Lafayette) W. David Chance – running against incumbent Joel C. Robideaux. (Republican formerly independent) There are no other candidates in the Dist. 45 race.

    Our Gubernatorial candidate is Scott A. Lewis, III.
