Video: Jon Stewart asks, “How did Ron Paul become the 13th floor in a hotel?”

On August 15, 2011, Jon Stewart devoted several minutes of “The Daily Show” to a rant about how the media is ignoring 2012 candidate for President of the United States, Congressman Ron Paul. Ron Paul was the 1988 Libertarian nominee for President, who supports libertarian views, but is currently running for the Republican Party nomination. Stewart referred to him as “Libertarian Ron Paul”, and noted how reluctant the media was to cover Ron Paul’s campaign, or even to mention Ron Paul’s numerical success, in the Iowa straw poll.

Below is a Youtube video with The Daily Show clip. You can also find Jon Stewart’s presentation (with a commercial intro) at the show’s official website: here.

Not sure if I will get critiqued for covering Ron Paul. I understand he is not running with a third party this year.

Though, I think that it is important that a mainstream media outlet (albeit a comedy show) is saying the word “Libertarian”, and highlighting the Libertarian value of being against engaging in multiple, expensive, unjust wars.

I categorized this post under “third party”, because it does draw attention to Libertarianism, and Ron Paul was a Libertarian candidate. Though, I did not go so far as to categorize it as “Libertarian Party” out of respect for the current Libertarian Party Presidential contenders.

  2. Green Party advocate

In 2008 Ron Paul was on the ballot for a month as a Green Party Vice Presidential nominee in Virginia.

That is Ron Paul was the Independent Green Party of Virginia Vice Presidential nominee on the ballot.

That independent Green Party put Michael Bloomberg on the ballot as Presidential candidate.

According to record the Mayor’s press secretary called it a post partisan Green Party ticket.

A winner of a Ticket for the Green Party in 2012, if Green Leadership might convince both Bloomberg and Paul to do this.

It could/would at lease get us out of the $trillion dollar wasteful wars.

It’s OK if we do it from time to time as long as it does not become overwhelming.

He wasn’t on the ballot, he was on the petitions. Without his permission, IIRC.

That independent Green Party put Michael Bloomberg on the ballot as Presidential candidate.

No, you put him on the petitions. You put Chuck Baldwin on the actual ballot.

According to record the Mayor’s press secretary called it a post partisan Green Party ticket.

Stated with stunning, if I may say almost military, intelligence.

Wanna take any bets on this?

  5. Truth as I See It !

I too see no possibility of a Bloomberg/Paul ticket. The mayor is a CFR member and Paul is an adopted son of the JBS. With that said…

I do appreciate Bloomberg making the golden truthful statement years ago “you have a better chance of being stuck by lightning than being harmed by a terrorist” ! If the masses could only grasp this, we all would be much better off !

The MSM are lazy LACKEYS for the NWO-Military(Pharma,Prison,etc.)Industrial Complex. Any non Puppet candidate will never receive positive coverage to amount to much. If Stewart gets “carried” away, he too will be reigned into line !! You don’t bite the hand who feeds you and the WAR MACHINE (etc.) pays (feeds) the MSM. I hope all of you GET IT about the LACKEYS and their agenda or lack of an honest one!!!

“What we in America call terrorists are really groups of people that reject the international system.” – Henry Kissinger 2007

“In March, 1915, the J.P. Morgan interests, the steel, shipbuilding, and powder interest, and their subsidiary organizations, got together 12 men high up in the newspaper world and employed them to select the most influential newspapers in the United States and sufficient number of them to control generally the policy of the daily press….They found it was only necessary to purchase the control of 25 of the greatest papers. An agreement was reached; the policy of the papers was bought, to be paid for by the month; an editor was furnished for each paper to properly supervise and edit information regarding the questions of preparedness, militarism, financial policies, and other things of national and international nature considered vital to the interests of the purchasers.” – Congressman Oscar Callaway …in the Congressional Record…

“There is no such thing, at this date of the world’s history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar weekly salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities, and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.” – John Swinton, former New York Times Chief of Staff

“We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected the promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world-government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the National auto-determination practiced in past centuries.” – David Rockefeller

There’s no way in hell that Mike Bloomberg and Ron Paul would run on the same ticket.

  7. Darryl W. Perry

There’s no way in hell that Mike Bloomberg and Ron Paul would VOLUNTARILY run on the same ticket. (it’s possible a group could get them on a ballot on the same ticket without their permission AND without either being able to remove themselves from the ballot)

    Detailed Summary

    Praise for Recarving Rushmore

“In the intriguing book, Recarving Rushmore, Ivan Eland reassesses the record of all U.S. Presidents based on the constitutional principles that each swore to uphold.

While conventional accounts glorify the flagrant misdeeds of the ‘Imperial Presidency,’ this insightful and crucial book provides an inspiring vision for both conservatives and liberals on the crucial need to rein in White House power and restore peace, prosperity and liberty.”

    ——-—Ron Paul, U.S. Congressman

“Recarving Rushmore is colorful, entertaining, and profound. Ivan Eland shatters the grand illusion that great presidents are those who wage war or deprive people of their liberty, either here or abroad.

The new ‘gold standard’ for measuring presidential performance, this book upends what we ‘know’ about ‘Great’ presidents and will challenge your view of political history, one president at a time.”

————Jonathan Bean, Professor of History, Southern Illinois University

“Eland engagingly shows why the conventional wisdom on the American presidency is all wrong and why presidents like Van Buren, Arthur, and Harding in fact ably advanced the nation’s interest, while iconic names like Lincoln, the two Roosevelts, and Wilson caused serious harm. Recarving Rushmore is must reading.”
