Apparently old news at IPR, but Politico.com is reporting that Jimmy McMillan of the “Rent is Too Damn High Party” has announed he is a registered Republican now:
“I’m registered Republican now,” McMillan told PBS. “I was a Democrat, but I changed my line so that I can get the issues to the front that Obama’s not addressing. … The Democratic Party sucked.”
In New York you can run for office on a party ticket without being affiliated with that party, and it is common for aspiring politicians to run on third party lines while remaining enrolled in a major party.
McMillan also said that “the deficit is too damn high.” (That’s the same line he used in a recent ad for a student group supporting Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels.)

That guy has really hit on something. That one debate performance very well may lead to reality TV shows, regular appearances on TV news, a book deal, or something else cool like that.
Who said he’s not sharing?
When you’re smoking the best, you gotta be selective, LOL
… and why isn’t he sharing??
Only the best stuff. He’s awesome!
Jimmy Mac is Too Damn High…
Palin vs Hillary …that has to be the debate theme song
Course there a bunch of candidates for cat scratch fever 😉
Good one….Leader of the land baby oh my god the great white buffalo …..look out!look out!
Jesse Ventura?
Paulie…@13
You had to get my mind in that direction didnt cha’? Dam it….now I’m trying to figure out just the right politician to tie with “the Great White Buffalo”
Hmmm…I’ll run it past the IPR writers group.
The parties are (too damn) high and so am I, it’s in the air tonight…free for all…
@funky chicken, Too Damn High Parties it is!
They’re TOO damn high!
Ballot access barriers are too damn high!
Too Damn High Parties.
Rentertarians? BreakfastLunch&Dinner-ites?
Jimmy deserves a category all his own. Start a contest for best name of the “Jimmy McMillan” category”, since he’s likely to be around for some time to come.
If the Libertarian party would support a Jimmy and Wayne Root reality show, they wouldn’t ever need matching funds to run for president. Our ratings are too damn high.
Bill Cosby as Dolemite. James Caan as White Stuff. Game on. Place your bets.
He is in NYC so he is still a member of a minor party,
Switched it to the N-L/R category…hope you don’t mind.
I would watch a Truman Show of Jimmy…all Jimmy, all the time.
@1 Agreed
@Article I think this should be “non-left-right,” not “third parties, general.”
Put him in the debates!
