If this pair has their way, Boulder, CO will soon have a fast-growing Green Party

Bonnie Ballantyne, a retired marketing professional from Longmont, said she went online to look for a local Green Party chapter after feeling disgusted with mainstream politics during the last election.

“I just wasn’t seeing anyone who seemed to be concerned with the people and the planet,” said Ballantyne, who has identified as a Libertarian, a Green and a Democrat, though mostly a Democrat, at various stages of her life.

Vermont Progressive Party legislative assignments

The House and Senate convened and organized this week, and Progressives fared well in committee assignments.

The returning house members all remained on the same committees from last session.Sarah Edwards returns to Natural Resources and Energy, the House committee which deals with Vermont Yankee. Susan Davis (on Corrections and Institutions) and Mollie Burke (on Transportation) again both serve on two of the House “money” committees.

Libertarian Party condemns shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords

Florida TEA Party Chairman Denounces Shooting.

Decries ‘politics’ of hate.’

Florida Tea Party Chairman Peg Dunmire denounced the shooting of United States Congresswoman Giffords and eighteen (18) other individuals in which six were killed, including a nine-year old girl today in Arizona.

“The ‘politics of hate’ that was so prevalent this past election cycle must be stopped,” stated Dunmire.  “We have seen it from many sources including the left and the right.  It is unfortunate that many of the newer members of the tea party movement, that always talk about not having any organized leadership, may have indirectly influenced this deranged individual to take this action today.  The attack on Congresswoman Giffords was a direct assault on the Constitution and the Republic,” Dunmire stated.Read more ...

Illinois Green, the only competition on the ballot, faces signature challenge in school board race

Berwyn, IL —Rita Maniotis knew that running a campaign for school board in Morton High School District 201 would be  difficult, but she didn’t anticipate a legal fight just to get on the ballot.

Paul Nosek of Berwyn and Alejandro Rueda of Cicero have filed a formal objection to Maniotis’ nominating papers and thrown her candidacy into legal limbo.

Howie Hawkins ran for Governor of New York on the Green Party line in the 2010 campaign. On January 7, 2011, Hawkins was interviewed by Elizabeth Benjamin of Capital Tonight.
