TPID: Interview with Darcy Richardson

Last week at Third Party and Independent Daily, I published a lengthy three-part interview with Darcy Richardson.  Darcy is a veteran independent political activist, a historian of the third party and independent political tradition in the United States, and a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Florida, running on the Independent gubernatorial ticket of economist and author Farid Khavari.  And he is, of course, a contributor to Independent Political Report.

Darcy is perhaps most well known for his multi-volume history of third party and independent politics in the United States, entitled Others, as well as for his numerous articles on historical and contemporary political underdogs, many of which can be found at Uncovered Politics, a political news and opinion website he co-founded with Austin Cassidy earlier this year.

Less well-known, however, is Darcy’s long career of independent political activism.  In the first part of the interview, Darcy talks about his decision to join Khavari’s gubernatorial ticket and his previous political experience as both candidate and activist.  In the process, he provides a short history of the Citizens and Consumer Party from 1979 to 1987.  In Part II, Darcy discusses Farid Khavari’s remarkable biography, and reflects on campaign strategy as we head into the final weeks of the political season.  In the final installment, Part III, he lays out Farid Khavari’s economic proposals for the state of Florida (namely, the founding of a state bank and the creation of a “zero cost” economy), talks about the difficulties of overcoming mainstream media bias, and discusses the general outlook for independent and third party politics this year and beyond.

Should we schedule a practice show, if so, when? And do any other IPR contributors want to participate?

I’d be interested in checking out and utilizing IPR’s blog talk radio as well.

I’d still like to do an IPR blogtalk interview as well, but before I do that, we need an IPR practice show for all of us who may want to do IPR blogtalks in the future.

Last time, I looked all over the place in the host panel, and never did find wherever the place is that alerts the host when callers are waiting.
