Press release sent to [email protected]:
The Libertarian Party of Clark County is outraged at the recent medical marijuana raids in our county.
Voters spoke some time ago about this issue and agreed that medical marijuana should be legal in our state.
We support the right of citizens of Nevada to decide and in conjunction with the Constitution of the United States; we hold emphatically this supersedes any federal law on this matter. As a reminder, President Obama promised that states laws concerning this matter would be respected and that the federal attacks would end. However, it seems that resources are still being wasted targeting patients and law abiding Americans.
What occurred was nothing less than government-sponsored theft. The fact that no arrests were made adds to the reasoning that no crimes have been committed. These businesses have been given no answers or reasons for the seizures and the Libertarian Party is stating that these raids are illegal and that the targets are innocent of any wrongdoing.
We are also questioning Metro’s involvement, as local officers are to enforce the laws of the state they live in first and federal officers alone should have conducted any federal action.
This is the front line and to accept these actions would be to take a step backward in the unjust War on Drugs. We call on our lawmakers and other outraged citizens to demand answers from not only our local police, but also those in charge of making these decisions to attack sick people. Surely there are more pressing issues and areas we could spend money on that would keep the public safer than arresting law abiding people seeking medicine.
This affront to our laws in this state will not stand or go unchallenged. The Libertarian Party looks forward to making those responsible held accountable and to making those affected by these illegal actions get the justice they deserve.

Good work, Debra! Great to see so many LP candidates signing onto this release.
This issue of local police acting like they work for the Feds has been a real issue in San Francisco as well.
If you haven’t done so, I encourage you to send copies of this release to drug reform organizations and local cannabis clinics, to let them know that the LP is standing up on their issue.
hey my horrible release got us some http://www.mynews3.com/category.php?id=5392&n=5035&articleID=8725media

LG,
Just saw this and updated. I did not get the 2nd version in email.
I think multiple counts of Citizens arrests are in order for those responsible in not upholding their own laws they are sworn to protect GOVT. – Fail
thanks guys , ya some media picked it up but more importantly the businesses and victims know they have an ally with us.
Paulie , in the ” 2nd version ” I add ex-com members , all of which are already added besides me.
Nate Santucci is Chair , Ed Klapproth is Secretary and Tim hagan is Treasurer . In the 2nd one I just added the officer title after the candidate office .
LG @ 8. If you hire a pro to write it you’ll never get the experience. Never learn what is wrong or right or how to follow up.
Most important is that too many in the LP want some “professional” to do the work and they are blind to the fact that we need to build a team of qualified volunteers who can do the work. And the only way to build that team is by doing the work. Ain’t Rocket Science!
I wrote that release , alsonot included is Kris McKinster who thought we should hire a prof release writer orsay nothing . he hated it so bad he tried to stop it from being released and ten asked his name not be included . his complaint —too passionate , not professional enuf . rofl
seems fine to me.
my name is supposed to be at the bottom , Debra Payne-Dedmon- Clark County LP Vice Chair. its not been on any where I see this release ,can you add it please
It wasn’t on the version you sent me. I’ll add it.
Excellent release! Special thanks to the writer, Debra Dedmon.
Good work LG. Did any of the local media types pick it up that you know of?

……… The LP needs to be out in front on this issue of the raids which are going on in a number of states. I agree.*
And I have yet to see the LP voice in San Diego County where lesbian GOP pet lover District Attorney Bonnie Damanis has no compunction to killing off human patients needing medical marijuana. Go figure.
*non smoking, non drugging, pot proponent
Very good. The LP needs to be out in front on this issue of the raids which are going on in a number of states.
I agree.
I guess the pot issue is way more important than our gun rights or low taxes, yea of course
Yep, it’s pretty important when you are going slowly blind from glaucoma or you are sick with nausea from chemotherapy and can’t keep down any food or pills, and the jackbooted thugs threaten to put you in a cage for the only medicine that helps you.
Now if this same gung ho could be used for lower taxes and minimal government maybe that could be a start.
Yeah, because SWAT raids of medical clinics are what, not big government?

I don’t think he’s a county or state officer or local candidate.
Where’s Wayne Root?
