Tancredo says that was part of the deal when he switched from the Republican Party to run as the American Constitution Party candidate.
His current running mate is Doug Campbell, who was chosen by former candidate Benjamin Goss before Tancredo was chosen to fill the position by a vacancy committee.
American Constitution Party gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo says he plans to choose a new running mate by the end of the month.
The party must get this process in motion by convening a vacancy committee on or before Tuesday, August 24th, for the new candidate to appear on the ballot.
No word yet on who Tancredo will name as his Lieutenant Governor. However, there is at least one relatively high-profile Independent in Colorado at the moment: Kathleen Curry. As a former Democrat stripped of her leadership position, she could balance the ticket for Tancredo. She is currently running a write-in campaign due to a legal technicality to retain her house seat, so a high-profile run for Lieutenant Governor may prove more effective than the unlikely odds of success she currently faces. However, some of her positions seem at odds with Tancredo, particularly on abortion.
There is always the slight chance Tancredo will withdraw from the race, if Republican Dan Maes accepts his latest offer.

Dear Robert [Drobot],
This is to confirm the discussion that we had on the phone today. When you asked how you can “return” to the AIP (our group) and remain the Chairman of the Santa Clara County AIP (and get back in the good graces of the AIP) I stated to you that your web page was your own worst enemy. Your web page screams of your endorsement of the CONSTITUTION PARTY and the rump group sued ME and then sued Markham Robinson, the AIP State Chair 2008-2010. Please see the many, many CP links, and candidate endorsements that you gave to the CP/AIP group instead of our group in the June 2010 Primary. See: http://traditionalpatriot.info/
However, you beseeched me to intercede and do something to help you redeem yourself and your past choices of political affiliations. There is nothing I can do to immediately restore your past CHAIRMAN OF THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY role. I am afraid Mr. Robinson will need some immediate showing of your remorse and your desire to return to our State Committee before he could submit your name as INTERIM Central Committee member.
So I told you the following… I would recommend that you IMMEDIATELY kill your present web page and cease promoting non-AIP candidates and cease promoting and endorsing the Constitution Party/AIP issues and meetings. This would be a big show of loyalty to our State Party.
I would be telling you an untruth if I were to say we have SANTA CLARA COUNTY covered with someone ready to step and assist in getting your county moving. As far as I know, Santa Clara is still vacant and without leadership. Or, if there is someone that Markham has, it is of a surprise to me…for no one has stepped up and helped me with my campaign from your county. So I would recommend that you begin to assist in my campaign and help GET ME ELECTED as the US Senator from the State of California.
Whereas I cannot promise to get you ON THE COUNTY CENTRAL COMMITTEE I can guarantee you a spot as my campaign manager of the County of Santa Clara for my county election campaign manager. If you were to shine as my valiant campaign manager in this election, there would be little doubt that you could easily redeem yourself in any past mistakes or errors that you may have made by endorsing the rump group of the AIP.
Let me know if you want to be a AIP county campaign manager in your county.
