Ehhhh.... it brings me great pain to say this (as both a libertarian and a die-hard rugby enthusiast), but Glendale's not exactly the best example of a 'libertarian takeover' of a city council. When such event occurred, the council poured tons of money into a pet project of theirs, Infinity Park, which is a state-of-the-art (by American standards) rugby stadium.

For those of you who don't know, Glendale is a tiny enclave of Denver that's mostly apartments, strip clubs, and big box stores (due to its proximity to Denver's high-end Cherry Creek mall area). Due to this, it has some very peculiar politics, and a huge tax revenue base to play around with (thanks to sales taxes from the big boxes and relatively few residents in contrast).

Now, I love the rugby park, because it's the only rugby-dedicated venue of its kind (currently) in the U.S., but I've always despised public-funded sports venues.

And, yes, the Glendale Raptors (the rugby team that plays in the rugby park) is owned by the very strip club owners who cast great influence over the Council, making the project even more dubious.
