Travis is running in my Ohio US District # 12.
LP candidates this year are running much stronger than in past years. Amazing what ballot access and some organization can do to entice voters and contributors to get onboard.

A- for concept, B-/C+ for execution, IMO.
Love Lesko. Travis had marble mouth at the beginning…couldn’t make out what he was saying, including his name.
Is it just me, or did Travis’s hair seem oddly pulled back? Seemed tustled/matted on top. Would he consider getting the locks snipped for the campaign? OR, just let his freak flag fly.
Any chance for a re-shoot?

Travis speak clearer! Otherwise a neat ad. Hope it make TV.

I LOVE IT!!
I’m proud of what Travis has done. I fully expect more from his campaign as this has come out in mid July and there is another four months before election day.
FWIW, I got 3% two years ago in this race.
And yeah, I say let his “freak flag” fly!
PEACE

The “welfare/warfare” state passage in the script could use a rework, IMO. When Ls use the term “state,” we often confuse people, who think the word means DE, MO or MT, etc.
I’ll look the other way on the substance of the point — that the Ds want more welfare and Rs want more warfare. It’s a false caricature, as Ds often are pro-war and Rs often want to expand welfare.
Curious: is Lesko a L or was he hired for this or what?

Travis has told me that he plans to have a special event and get his hair cut! His district goes from the city and out into the rural area of Ohio– much more conservative. I have told him that talking about his hair-do is fine now, but sooner than later the voters will need to focus on his message- so the “do” has to go or get trimmed.

Does 12-OH include this place:

Seems like a great location for the next Travis commercial…just because. Throw in the Ohio State marching band. Could be fun.

Maybe a fundraiser in which Travis sells locks as he is shorn
“What’s round on the ends and high in the middle?”

excellent ad, excellent idea.
Way to think outside of the box.

I think Matthew Lesko would make an excellent, albiet ironic, figure to lead a nation-wide speaking tour in promotion of the LP.

actually Travis was thinking of some sort of media event with the hair cut. He will be at the Ohio State Fair in the LPO booth about that time.

Robert # 8.
Close but that is District # 15, which splits Columbus Ohio area.
# 12 and # 15 are next to each other. Both are Columbus, Ohio media market. # 12 has REAL CORN.

Great commercial. I wonder how much he had to spend to get Lesko.

Imagine Travis chasing Lesko with a broom through the corn statue field of Dublin. Lesko would be talking about how much government money you can get, while Travis says why not let us keep it in the first place and not have jerks like you tell us how to work the system….

“Delusional losers.”
Wow! Imagine Robert Milnes calling someone a delusional loser. It rather boggles the mind.

Dublin is a high-end suburb that LOVES to spend money– local tax money, and also will use eminent domain in order to “plan” a “beautiful” community. Lots of zoning and signage laws for business also. I wouldn’t live there if you paid me.

We’ve seen this many times before. Polling in upper single, lower double digits only to have it wither away by election day.

I have added Irvine to my list of LP candidates to follow.

I agree the execution could be a bit better, but Travis deserves big props for getting the “free government money” dude to be in his ad! Excellent idea!
Perhaps for the next one, he could turn his hair into an asset. Here’s a little sample script:
“Hi, I’m Travis Irvine, and I’m running for Congress. Since I put out my last TV ad, I’ve got critics on the Internet telling me that voters won’t take me seriously unless I cut my hair. You’re not that shallow, are you? You wouldn’t vote for a guy just because he had shorter hair than me, would you? How would you feel if somebody didn’t hire you to work for them just because of your personal appearance, when you were the best person for the job? Well, you can tell them what’s what by going to my website and voting in the poll on whether I should get a haircut or tell them to stick it. And while you’re there, check out the ideas I’ll bring to Congress if you elect me as your representative: Bring U.S. troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan, repeal government-run health care we can’t afford, and cut federal spending, including $100,000 of my own salary as a Congressman. I hope you agree that this stuff is more important than cutting my hair! Thanks for your support.”

Heh… after writing the message above, I went to Travis’s website, and he *already* has a poll up about his hair. Love it! I guess great minds do think alike sometimes.
Go kick some elephant/ass, Travis!

Sooner or later, an LP candidate is going to get thru at the Federal or State level. Ohio might be the state.

Travis’ latest video:

This should be a lesson for ALL opposition candidates.
I’ve said it before…everytime a candidate feels a fart coming on, he needs to send a “media advisory” about the coming event; Everytime the fart happens, he needs to send a news release about it extolling it’s virtues. And I forgot all about making a YouTube about it!
Any candidate that prefers to stay in the shadows is a waste of everybody’s time.
PEACE
