Independence Party Candidate Tom Horner Tours Minnesota

Tom Horner, one of the candidates for the nomination of the Independence Party of Minnesota in the Governor’s race, already has the endorsement of his party and has begun touring the state. On this tour he is pitching a message of conciliation and compromise.

Tom Horner visited Fergus Falls Wednesday afternoon to let residents know he’s willing to sit in between the state’s political divide.

Recently endorsed as the state’s Independent candidate for governor, Horner stopped in Fergus Falls for the beginning of a campaign that will largely be based on a series of meet and greets throughout the state.

Though it’s not unheard of for Minnesotans to cast their votes for an independent candidate, Horner knows he has a battle set out for him. But for him, the battle is about raising the funds necessary to get his message out. From there, he’s confident the people of Minnesota will meet him in the center.

Polling that has been done in this race has often included Horner as the Independence Party candidate, where he has scored as much as 10%.

FYI Mae Schunk, former MN Lt Gov. never had any interest in office after her term ended. I believe she is retired now.

Trent, agreed. Actually the nationalists (IP/CP)& the leftists/progressives are about evenly matched. See: Chile election 1970. But the progressives are owned by the democrats & enthralled by Obamania. Whereas the nationalists are more independent of the GOP.

MCRN, Maybe there is a snowball’s chance in hell the progressive party can win-close-in upper midwest, upper NE, upper west coast-see tresults of TR Progressive party 1912. But why bother & waste a lot of time, energy & $, when you could win EVERY STATE? All you have to do is coordinate the progressive & libertarian vote on each & every ballot AND EDUCATE THE VOTERS. But nobody listens to me. I don’t see you being any different-LOSER.

    Michael,

If it’s just some paper candidate or a local butcher or something who won’t even get polled…I don’t see how it could compare to news of Tom Horner, who is polling 10% before doing anything.

There are some more news stories to be relesed very soon from Minnesot-ah.

Hint, including another Governor candidate and a Congressional campaign.

both campaigns are busy now. We are in the midst of the gathering signatures for ballot access.

Oh and conciliation and compromise are NOT a part of either campaigns.

Im curious as to why the Independence Party has never tried to run Mae Schunk, their former Lt. Governor, for Governor or for US Senate. Apparently they courted James Gilbert, a former Federal Judge, for the spot.
