Via email from State Chair Tad Britch:
The LPWV successfully held its bi-annual meeting yesterday in
Clarksburg. We would like to thank Dr. Jim Lark for taking the time to
appear at our meeting. Dr. Lark once again provided valuable guidance
and assistance to the party. An additional thanks to all members who
attended the meeting.
Those in attendance elected officers and members to the executive
committee. Congratulations to the following individuals on their
election:
. Tad Britch – Chair, Treasurer
. Karl Swisher – Vice-chair, at-large executive committee
. Tom Thacker – Secretary, at-large executive committee
. Alan Westfall – at-large executive committee
Some upcoming events and changes in the future:
. The LPWV would like to become more active in the local community.
These are great opportunities for members to interact and spread our
message to your community. Please let us know if you need materials,
and we will do what we can to help. Let us know if you have an idea
for a festival or charity event to attend.
. There are plans to start developing a quarterly newsletter for
members. If you are interested in contributing articles to the
newsletter, or even the website, just let us know. We need
contributors to write about issues in their part of the state.
. The Strawberry Festival will be taking place from May 12-16 in
Buckhannon. Tom and Alan will be on the street talking to individuals
during the festival. Any help with the event would be greatly
appreciated.
. Write letters to your editor and mention the LP or LPWV. Any
publicity explaining our stances on the issues is good for the party.
. At next year’s convention we will hand out awards to the most active
and successful members who are able to effectively spread our message.
A reminder that the LP convention is being held in St. Louis from
28-31 May. Send us an email if you are interested in representing the
LPWV at the convention.
Membership dues are required for nearly everyone. You can either pay
the $20 on the website (will be running again shortly) or mail a check
to the following address:
. Libertarian Party of West Virginia
. PO Box 4428
. Star City, WV 26504
Minutes will be posted online for those who were unable to attend the
meeting. In the future, we hope to broadcast the meetings via Skype,
and allow for dues paying members to vote online. We realize many have
long drives from different parts of the state, and we want to allow
you to participate in decisions for the party.

That should be enough time for you to get the signatures yourself on the weekends. If you can’t afford or raise the filing fee, that’s a different issue.
July 31st is the deadline to have everything turned in by. That includes the filing fees.
What’s your deadline?
With the appropriate amount of time it is extremely easy to collect them ourselves. Especially with the lowered threshold for gaining ballot access.
Our state senate candidate has done everything by himself and will have absolutely no problems getting on the ballot.
If I would have known I would be unable to gain possession of the ballots, then I would have started collecting them again on my own.
They did. See comment #7.
They also had me collect signatures for another one, but apparently the former state chair is in physical possession of those.
However, that candidate is the new state chair as well as still treasurer, and he says it’s easy to get them himself, so…
West Virginia legislature cut the number of signatures in half in 2009, so there is no reason Libertarians will ever again fail to be on in W.V. in a presidential year. But in 2010, West Virginia has no statewide offices up. US House is the biggest office on the 2010 ballot. Certainly the WV LP could have nominated some candidates for state legislature this year.
What exactly would you like to know?
Steve was running the e-campaign, which was the best managed part of the Barr campaign. He had nothing to do with WV ballot access attempts, as far as I know.
TPW is dead and gone. Fortunately, we have some new upcoming competition in TPID

Do you have any specific questions?

“……… Barr campaign tried to do WV on its own but the effort was comically bad.”
any comments on Third Party Watch, Barr 08, Stephen Gordon, Alambama and signatures ???????????
We are running a candidate for local elections in Martinsburg and a State Senate candidate in District 12. We are not paying anyone to collect signatures as it is relatively easy to do it ourselves.
We would have at least two more running for county commission and House of Delegates, but unforeseen circumstances has stopped that from happening.
They prioritize between different state parties, office expenses, etc, etc. WV was one of the states LPHQ dropped and was just not going to do for 2008, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they drop that one again.
Barr campaign tried to do WV on its own but the effort was comically bad.
More important than getting a state party on the ballot? I can’t imagine what is more important than this if they have the money.
They have other priorities.
Shouldnt the LNC be kicking in for this?
My information is that they do not have money to get any on the ballot, or to pay me for the remaining ~ $2,000 of signatures I already collected and still have.
Any candidates for public office nominated??
