CNN has now picked up on the speculation and conspiracy theorizing surrounding the third party Tea Party candidate for US Senate in Nevada, noted here the other day. In the report, one Republican candidate suggests there is an “Armenian” connection in the plot, “no doubt about it”:
So how is it possible to be an illegitimate Tea Party member?
Ask Republicans in Nevada. Some are accusing Jon Scott Ashjian, a new Tea Party candidate running for U.S. Senate, of being a fake. The allegation? He was put in the race by agents of Senate Majority leader Harry Reid to siphon votes from the GOP.
“No doubt about it”, says Danny Tarkanian, one of the many Republican senate candidates hoping to challenge Reid in November. “Nobody in the Tea Party knows who he is. He didn’t know any of the principles of the Tea Party,” Tarkanian tells CNN. He even accuses “Harry Reid’s staff, campaign, whatever” of picking Ashjian because he’s Armenian, as is Tarkanian. He explains, “They know the Armenians are very close they’ll vote for each other.”
Ashjian’s response:
Ashjian, who helped form the Tea Party of Nevada just to run for this seat, laughs that he’d never take marching orders from the Democrats or Harry Reid.
“I have never met Harry Reid, do not agree at all with any of his political values,” says Ashjian, adding that he’s not the kind of guy “who would follow or be told what to do.” He says he’s fielded endless calls from Republicans trying to strong arm him to leave the race and resents it: “I don’t think Republicans own the Tea Party,” Ashjian tells CNN. “In fact I know they don’t in Nevada, because I do. That’s what’s really got them in an uproar.” He says he’s been informed he’s not welcome on the bus when the Tea Party [Express organization] rolls into Nevada.
Ashjian says he got into the race because “we are patriots that want change. We’re normal people that want to make a difference.”
First he plans to make a campaign website.

“we are patriots that want change. We’re normal people that want to make a difference.”
= Then why didn’t you and your friends go through the IAP, you stupid moron!
We’ve been fighting to make a difference since 1992, on just on the ballot, but in the Legislature as well and we have!
-Unlike a pseudo-Patriot such as you, I’ve never heard of your face in the tea party crowds, you came out of the middle of nowhere and you expect to be the “Tea Party” candidate?!
The ONLY tea party candidate running for US Senate is Tim Fasano!

We don’t know very much about him. If one discounts the conspiracy theory, then he’s either naive or a narcissist or both. I’m more interested in the response to him and the potential ways in which he could affect the race. Is it possible that Reid could fall behind both a Republican and a third party candidate in the polls? I’ve also been following the development of this particular line of speculation and innuendo for a few months (i.e. third party tea party activists are actually pawns in a liberal-Democratic plot).

Plus, I thought the Armenian connection angle was kind of funny, there are some jokes in there, despite NewFed’s.

Ballot Access News covered the polling done on the US Senate race in Nevada-
http://www.ballot-access.org/2010/02/22/nevada-poll-for-u-s-senate-race-includes-tea-party-nominee/
Since there’s no question either Lowden or Tarkanian is going to end up being the GOP nominee, they would still win over Reid even with Ashjian in the race.

It’s the Polish-Armenian Cabal at it again.

The facts are this:
Ms Chelene Nightingale running for governor 2010 constitution party is trying to tie her string to the “teaparty” patriots. Ms. Nightingale is with the constitution party whose platform is NOT what the teaparty patriots are all about.
Her piggybacking on “our” cause distracts from our common message and gives ammunition to those who wish to question our legitimacy.
Further, her “conspiracy tinged” speeches discredit our true teaparty message. I am against backing these discredited publicity seekers.
sincerely
