Tomorrow, the newly formed Coffee Party organization will be holding meet-up style events across the country. There’s probably one near you. This could be a good outreach and organizing opportunity for third party and independent activists. From the Coffee Party’s mission statement:
The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.

The Coffee Party Movement is just like the Moveon.org group. Funded by George Soros and the like. Part of their schtick is the need to sit down, have a lattee and have a respectful dialogue.
I strongly suspect that any discussion on the rotten, corporate corrupted, pro-war two party system will not be “respectful” enough.
None the less, while ‘they” will try and manage it the same way they tried to manage the Tea Party Movement I believe that it can be worked with.

We’ll need more time to see how these two shake out. If the Tea & Coffee movements split off into their own parties, one conservative & 1 liberal, that would be equivalent to one centrist party as far as PLAS goes. i.e. one or 2 parties that draw off votes from the dems & reps that the progressives & libertarians wouldn’t have gotten anyway. That would make a PLAS plurality easier.

If the Greens are reaching out to the tea party folks at this late date, the GP definitely shouldn’t miss the opportunity for outreach to their more liberally caffeinated counterparts, from the beginning. And, yes, I definitely would like to see the video too.

The Green Party is reaching out to these “Coffee Party” folks.
Many of us have attended their meetings, called them, urged them to run as Green Party candidates, just as with the Tea Party.
Many of the coffee/tea folks are already part of the two larger parties…and well…there you go…

There’s a difference, though.
The Tea Party idea originally came from Libertarians (with the Republicans more recently attempting a hostile takeover), while the Coffee Party idea came from Democratic Party activists from the very start.

The big money players, insurance companies, oil..etc where in from the get go on the concept and selling of this…”Tea Party” stuff..
God forgive ‘em I’ve got relatives who have had all their expenses paid to go to these Tea Party events…
It’s bought and paid for by the usual crowd…

Just a movement.
Unlike the Tea Party, which is merely being coopted by Republicans, the Coffee Party started out directly as a Democratic Party operation from the start.
