Conservative PAC Says Joseph Kennedy Taking More Votes From Martha Coakley in U.S. Senate Race; Coakley Drops Below 50% Thanks To Kennedy

WASHINGTON, DC (January 18, 2010) – William Greene, Chairman of the conservative online political action committee RightMarch.com PAC, announced today that Independent candidate Joseph Kennedy is taking enough votes from Martha Coakley to insure her loss in the upcoming special election for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts.

“Our proprietary internal polling of likely voters in Massachusetts this past weekend makes one thing very clear,” said William Greene, Chairman of the RightMarch.com PAC. “Joe Kennedy is siphoning off a large chunk of votes from Martha Coakley, the Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate.”

The special election, to fill the remaining two years of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy’s term, will be held on January 19th. Besides Joseph Kennedy (who is not related to Ted Kennedy), Coakley and Republican Scott Brown will also be on the ballot. “In many ‘normal’ elections, when there is a third-party candidate like Joe Kennedy, he often takes votes from the Republican candidate,” said Greene. “But in this special election, we’re seeing that Republicans who originally weren’t going to vote are now planning to vote for Joe Kennedy, and more importantly, a large percentage of Democrats are also planning to vote for Kennedy – more than likely, because of confusion regarding his name. Polls are showing Coakley at below 50% now – it’s obvious that things would be different if Kennedy weren’t on the ballot.”

The RightMarch.com PAC is a web-based, conservative political action committee, dedicated to giving hundreds of thousands of hardworking, patriotic Americans across the country a strong collective voice in the political process. “a large percentage of Democrats are also planning to vote for Kennedy – more than likely, because of confusion regarding his name.”

If Coakley loses in a close race this is most likely what Kennedy will be remembered for, and will simply reinforce the perception that third parties in general, and the LP in particular, can serve no other purpose than to spoil the election for either of the two major parties.

On the other hand, Libertarians could be remembered for moving the outcome in a Libertarian direction.

On the other hand, this could EXPLODE the myth that Libertarians always help the Democrat and hurt the Republican.

On the other hand, I will take any good PR I get and bless Joe Kennedy and his staff for taking the time and risk and effort for us all.

THANK YOU JOE AND JAKE AND COMPANY!

As they say, spoiling would be a feature, not a bug. If your meat was continually spoiling in your freezer, would you ignore it or do something about it? I’m aware that one of things they could do is outlaw 3rd parties or make it extremely difficult for them, but that’s dirty pool in the eyes of a lot of voters.

Name confusion might give it to the Republicans? Are you freaking kidding me? America, F**k Yeah!!

No candidate “spoils” the election for another candidate. Voters own their own votes and have the right to cast them for whoever they want to support.

If Martha Coakley loses, it just means enough people did not want to vote for her.

Apparently Brown’s team has been very effective at using the net to raise funds. If Coakley is on the short end of the stick it may be easy to blame Kennedy without paying attention to their own failings at organization.

Joe Kennedy should have signs with his name plastered around every polling place in Massachusetts. If I recall correctly, I think you have to stay 100 feet away from the door, or something like that.

    Go Joe!!!

This web site was done spontaneously by Rick Marazzanni, who I have never met, and shows how spontaneous self-organization can takes steps toward advancing Liberty. (The positions on his web site are his, not mine.)

Wrong Gene, we do not own our own votes. The government owns our votes. The government owns our bodies, and God owns the government.

Are there exit poll data to support claims of why people voted for, or against, any of these candidates?

For those of you who really believe that so-called Third Parties only serve to spoil elections, then perhaps you should look into Instant Runoff Voting. This would eliminate the “wasted vote”/”spoiler” effect completely.
