MO: Libertarian Files for State House Special Election

December 14th, 2009 · 10 Comments

The LP blog reports that “Libertarian Patty Tweedle has filed to run in the special election for Missouri State House, District 62. The election will be held on February 2, 2010.”  In her mission statement, Tweedle makes a case for voting Libertarian:

Why vote for a Libertarian Candidate?  If you have been paying attention for the last decade, you are well aware that our country made a tremendous swing away from what the Republican and Democratic parties used to stand for.  If you take a minute to research the Libertarian Party, we’ve not budged one inch….not since its inception in the early 1970s.  That’s why we are known as the PARTY OF PRINCIPLE.  As a Libertarian, I stand for something, and that something never changes!  I stand on principles…the principle that are  protected by the Constitution of these United States.  ALL citizens are part of that equation….  I stand for the sovereignty of the states, and believe in their ability to govern properly without the Federal Government’s influence, be that money, or favors, or under whatever guise the Federal Government wedges its way into state’s business.

As a citizen of the great state of Missouri…you should be free to school your children in the way you feel is of the most benefit to your children.  You should also be free to make a living to support your family.  If you are creative and driven and wish to open your own business, why should you be bogged down by THOUSANDS of government regulations?  Regulations that don’t benefit anyone but BIG GOVERNMENT!

Good luck, Ms. Tweedle. Hopefully folks in Missouri will be receptive to your message.

Why wish this candidate good luck? We all know she is going to lose.
So, there is now 4 special elections in the next month or so? I see no reason to not include this one in the PLAS Experiment. The soonest one is in CA I believe, Jan 12. The Green should endorse the PLAS. Libertarians should then help the Green’s campaign. The next would be the libertarian Independent in MA. Greens & progressives should then reciprocate by helping with that campaign. That is 4 tries to win by PLA Strategy plurality vote. By Feb. 2. That should give us some idea of whether this Strategy is viable. Unless everybody sits on their lazy losing asses & does little or nothing to help these candidates who have stepped up to the plate in a losing cause.

When is the losing Libertarian special election in GA?

It would be great if all the Emergency Anti war/escalation speakers & rallyers would help these candidates with their campaigns… & maybe WIN?

A GOTV effort might pay off if the dems & reps have a low turnout.

I say we get EVERY available Green AND Libertarian activist to CA 72nd District in and near Orange, Orange county, CA. Next county over from LA. ASAP.Campaign for the Green in this district which has a 10% registered voter advantage by republican over democrat. But that will not matter if there is a low rep & dem voter turnout. We need ALL the Green & progressive AND libertarian voters to turn out. On Jan 12, NOBODY could complain about the winter weather! In between college semesters too! Christmas/New Years break. I’d try to make it but it doesn’t look like I’m going to get enough assistance & volunteers soon enough. But either way I could go to MA & campaign for the lib. around Jan. 2-19. You want anti-war? You’d better start voting in anti-war candidates.

Ok, the special election is in Augusta, Richmond county Ga, near the SC border. Jan 5. Evidently there is 3 democrats & one Libertarian; no others. Unfortunately there was an opportunity to field a candidate in the other special election in the 122nd district. But only 1 democrat filed. Oh well. So, again, no complaints about the winter weather. All activists should choose between the GA race on Jan 5 & the CA race Jan 12. Go there ASAP. Then on Jan 6 if possible, go from GA to CA. We need ANY & ALL Green and progressive and libertarian activists to help these candidates ASAP. Then the MA election Jan. 19 & the MO election Feb. 2.
