For whoever is trying to tally the number of officeholders from the Constitution Party, I just read about a U.S. Taxpayers Party member who was elected to the Board of Trustees at Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan. The election is non partisan. Anyway, his name is Dr. Richard Ryskamp & he has also run for the Board of Regents at University of Michigan.

If you listen a little over halfway through the “American View” episode that Joey posted @65, Bryan Malatesta states why he voted the way he did in Tampa. It sounds like it was on quasi-federalist grounds, i.e.- the ability for state parties to manage their affairs, candidates, platforms, etc. As state chairman of the Texas CP, he did not want to enable the National CP to take action against the Texas party in the future.

However later on in the same clip, he says that he would probably vote differently if given the opportunity. Finally he says that he wishes he could help find a way to bring the Constitution Party back together instead of helping it to fall apart.

And I’m glad that Malatesta voted the right way at Tampa: it wasn’t about making the CP “100% Pro-Life”, it was about an attempt by religious fanatics to kick out the Nevada IAP because they didn’t like the fact that the State Chair & most of their leadership are LDS (Mormon) and outspoken about their beliefs.

In fact, Nevada was only going to be just the beginning if they had succeeded.

But they didn’t and they left the CP afterwords- Good Riddence!
