Just watched the video. RUFKME?! Did the 2008 LP VP just say Limbaugh was NOT a racist? Birds of a feather. Limbaugh and WAR both called Obama a racist for picking a non-white judge. Maybe if he did less media, he'd do less damage to the cause of freedom.

Dondero,

You still haven't answered me. Are you an anti-Paul Republican or a pro-Barr Libertarian?

In liberty, with eternal vigilance,

It is pretty obvious that the red head in the first video has as little respect for Root as many Libertarians. Not a good omen for a prospective candidate that wants to be taken seriously.

A political snake oil salesman by any other name is still selling snake oil.

Fortunately I don't belong to the Libertarian Party so I no longer have to worry about getting phone calls from a local party activist. Anyway the New Jersey LP is relatively inactive anyway, they haven't put up a serious candidate for governor since Murray Sabrin in 1997, and Independent Chris Daggett may well be the determining factor in this race as his poll numbers continue to climb. I like Chris Daggett and what he stands for and I may actually vote for the guy.

I don't consider myself "libertarian" but I do respect those activists like George Phillies and Mary Ruwart who have devoted years of effort to offering serious alternative policies for dealing with social and economic issues, and not just the usual rightwing pablum one expects from the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck.

Bob Barr, Wayne Root (a slick self-promoting version of Bob Barr coupled with an aggressive marketing campaign) and yes, even Ron Paul (who endorsed the Constitution Party nominee Chuck Baldwin for president last year, and earlier this year endorsed reactionary Republican Steve Lonegan for New Jersey governor) have done nothing but provide reactionary tea-baggers and other assorted wingnut Republicans a place to go to vent their frustration for losing last year's election and shake their collective fists at the political establishment for rejecting their ideas at the polls.

Mr. Milnes, why shouldn't I be impressed? If you want anybody to understand your reasoning, you have to offer some. As for lewrockwell.com, there must be some problem with lewrockwell.com that I am not aware of. Is there an actual post on what is wrong with that web site?

Mr. Dondero, I'll agree with you that there are some libertarians that dog those who are putting in the effort to sell the message of freedom.

I'll continue to be concerned about Mr. Root. I won't bother labeling Mr. Root or anybody else as labels are still largely worthless.

Beware Mr. Dondero, some quotes from Mr. Root:

"I admit it - I love Ron Paul.
Ron Paul is a hero.
Ron Paul is the real thing."

Hey here's a great idea for all you Armchair Libertarians out there. You know who you are. You're the ones who bitch and moan about purity on on-line, but when the local Libertarian Party Chair calls you up to help with manning an LP outrach booth at the county fair, or help gather signatures for LP ballot access or a libertarian ballot initiative you come up with a convenient excuse.

Since Mr. Root now appears to be about the hardest working Libertarian in the Nation this side of Paul Jacob, why don't you all take the opportunity to ruthlessly bash him. Claim he's "not a real libertarian." Or call him something like a "NeoCon."

This way you will feel better and more superior knowing that you succesfully tore down somebody who's actually working for liberty.

I am impressed with Mr. Root's efforts in the media. I have dueling concerns, whether Libertarians will find him trustworthy and whether he can be trusted to not morph a la GWB on foreign policy. Ron Paul often mentions GWB in the 2000 election claim to have much a more modest foreign policy then Bill Clinton and we all saw how that turned out.

I'm hoping that Mr. Root will be worthy of my trust, although I do plan to trust but verify to the extent possible.

I'd love to see Mr. Root take a lead from Dr. Ron Paul as far as Israel goes. Every time I read him claim "our ally" (the government of) Israel it prods me to worry about his thinking.
