Rock On Rev Billy.

I had this exact same thing happen to me, when i was ejected from the floor during the live televised TV debate for the Minnesota Senate race in 2006.

So did Aaron Dickson in Washington State and some other GP senatorial candidate.

I now have a cable show called Lies and Omissions of Corporate Media.

P.S. We could also do a letter writing campaign to that moderator, tell him that the progressive and third party community was offended. And, tell him that if he does not apologize and propose the way he should have handled it, we won’t ask him to moderate anything.

To Humble Travis and all:

I fear I don’t have time to write it…maybe I will try…

But, someone should do an Op Ed piece about the history of dissenters being dragged away. And, maybe include “audience manners during civil disobedience”. I don’t know, maybe telling people that, wherever you are, if the cops drag someone away — wrong or right — that it is your duty to turn in that direction and watch and make sure the person is not tortured.

Or, something like, if the moderator says the show must go on, you stand up and say, “Let’s discuss this issue” if you think it is important.

I was at a community meeting where a priest was letting a corporate person go on and on, and the community kept raising their hand and asking for their turn to speak. I handed the priest a private note that said, “You are being disrespectful by not letting the community speak. You are the host, and you are not giving people the floor.”

The NY Daily News had another video showing Billy and the Villar supporters being dragged out. The fact that the ruckus continues after their apprehension makes it clear that more people in the hall were chanting. Without having been there it’s hard to say how many people cheered and applauded, but Billy’s statement must have struck a chord to garner that reaction at such a controlled event.

The moderator’s reaction reminds me of how John Kerry handled the “don’t tase me bro” incident.

Going back a few years, a similar thing happened to Larry Agran during the 1992 Democratic Party debates. He was not allowed to debate and shouted from backstage during the broadcast. The moderator instructed the candidates to “hold on while the man was quieted” or something similar.

I think it is so interesting to watch how the moderator handled the situation.

What a creep!

Keep the propaganda, power show going. And, smile, and talk about taking care of an activist with concerns, as if you were waiting for the janitor to clean up some dog dirt. (And, don’t even bother to watch and make sure that no one is getting hurt.)

Creepy…creepy stuff. What our society has come to. How trained citizens are, that they will just go along and cheer the smarmy host and smarmy Mayor as an activist is hauled away with his concern unaddressed.

Saying the “crowds” cheered and responded with “eight is enough” is a nice picture to paint, but it was way off from what actually happened. It sounds like “eight is enough” was chanted by the same game and there were only a few people in the crowd who actually cheered.
