Ross,

I think all of the Whig leaders would be the first to agree completely with you.

The MWP chairwoman is actually Elaine Stephens. Her bio is on the website. Lebowitz is a founding member and kind of the catalyst for the Whig movement, but his role is now WNC chair. It's all a work in progress, and I think 2010 will be the bigger test more than 2009. Let's revisit this discussion around this time next year.

Me, too, HS, but I think the Whigs have yet to demonstrate themselves as a credible party. Sure, their leader (Mike Lebowitz) has been involved in some pretty mainstream and big political campaigns (the climate change bill and Kokesh's campaign come to mind), but that doesn't say much about the party.

Your first election is coming up on November 3rd, with that state legislative candidate in New Jersey. Let's see how he does. And let's see how you guys do in 2010. I'd love to see another party grow no matter what the ideology, but the truth is that the Whigs have yet to elect a candidate on their ticket and it doesn't mean jack squat if you're mainstream if you still can't elect anyone.

Good luck, though.

Who would have thought even just a year ago that people would be seriously debating the merits of the Whig Party, let alone discussing Whig candidates running on the Whig ticket in at least two states.

On a broader note, I hold a great deference to those who decided to stop complaining about the shape of things in this country and actually try to do something about it. This goes for people of all political stripes and not just Whigs.

Heather, of the Know Nothing Party:

Centrists, via various reform movement and unethical hypocrites like Frank MacKay, have been jerked around left right and middle.

As I mentioned before, and Heather chose to ignore, part of my 'non contact' was a San Diego County Voter registration form, completely filled out and postage pre paid. And never heard of again.

It is Carson California and DC whom are short on the Contact. Sorry you did not have your story straight.

The fact that you mention my letters, including copies of former official and unofficial Reform Party news letter, indicates that I was contacting the do nothing state and national office.

Thank you for proving my point ----- that the Whigs are not serious 'bout getting stuff done!

Nicholas,

I wouldn't put too much stock in these comments. I know that Whigs in DC and California have reached out to Mr. Lake numerous times in response to his letters mailed to our offices. He never has responded back. Of course, Mr. Lake is always welcome to contact the national or California party any time he wishes and we will provide all due respect.

"Considering that we are registered nationally and have a couple registered State Chapters, we are far from fake" :

The muddle from the middle, where Unity 08, Whigs, Frank MacKay, and any thing even some what remotely related to the [so called] reform movement can not be trusted with even the elementary basic platform of ethics.

Modern Whigs, recruiting new members nationally, yet unable to send in an 'a priori' voter registration form postage pre paid.

These folks, fake ???? Well they seem unable to conduct a two car parade!

My definition of a fake party is a party that doesn't have a purpose in existence, like the Democratic and Republican Party.
