John Sophocleus was the 2002 Libertarian Party candidate for Governor of Alabama. I worked on his campaign.

The description of the video at Motorhome Diaries:
When visiting the good folks at the http://mises.org the http://motorhomehomediaries crew were told about John Sophocleus, a professor who’s property the Alabama Department of Transportation was attempting to seize. In this video John details the experience, including his picking up his rifle as a earth moving machine approached his house and his subsequent courtroom battles, which made it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

I talked to John at length about this when I lived in Auburn. It’s an amazing 3rd Amendment case! Having a 3rd Amendment case is extraordinarily unusual.

John told me it was the first 3rd amendment case in the federal courts (or maybe just SCOTUS) in about 80 years.
