Those of us who live along the border, and have been forced to watch walls sever our communities and wildlife refuges, deeply appreciate the solidarity of the Green Party and all of those who actively oppose the border wall.

Illegal is not a noun. To all of the people who oppose open borders, please go get yourself implamanted with a government-mandated citizen-chip so that you can be verified as a US citizen in a secure and meaningful way! ;)

'Cause seriously, a driver's license can be forged. I've seen teenagers do it. If we want to ensure that every person is a Registered and Known Entity, we must establish a secure and verifiable system which would implant each person who is allowed to be here with a microchip, linked to an identification key (cryptographic public key, in this case) with a corresponding private key stored on a central federal government content distribution network, allowing for immediate verification and validation of your right to be here.

Checkpoints can be set up at random, and violators ("undocumented persons") can be sent immediately to interment camps for deportation.

This is what you people demand? Something tells me the government wants to give it to you! The other option is freedom. That includes free movement of people across political boundaries.

No person is illegal. There are undocumented immigrants, not "illegal aliens".

"Free trade" agreements that allow free movement of finance capital, but not free movement of labor, are bound to cause mass migration of the type we've seen from Mexico to the US. Greens were right when they predicted this side effect of NAFTA.

I doubt that libertarians believe the myth that immigration hurts the economy. Other than the unabashed nativism of some comments here (I think nativists are called "know-nothings" for a reason), the only complaint seems to be that undocumented immigrants represent a burden on the welfare system. So, the obvious solution is to recalibrate the system so that everyone working in the US will pay their fair share of taxes, and receive a fair wage.

By the way, if you think the border wall would even accomplish its alleged purpose of keeping out immigrants, you should really do half an hour of research on it. For example, did you know that there are giant gaps in the wall corresponding to the border property of well-connected Republicans?

The Green Party is usually made up of reconquistas, like Peter Camejo in California. Please, you don't care about the environment of the U.S. when you allow millions of polluting illegal aliens. Every nation with overpopulation is polluted. Not rocket science. The Green Party = Hypocrits.

Will each person who thinks we need to allow illegal aliens to sneak into our country, please take in an illegal family? I'm sure you won't mind paying for their medical needs, schooling for their many children, food, clothing and all the necessities of life. You'll at least save the rest of us who still belive in the immigration laws.

robert milnes said:

"When fully operational it would end undocumented entry because detection & detainment would be guaranteed."

Well, that is obviously a non-starter for the Greens and the Washington Establishment including Napolitano.

You need to come up with something that they can be confident is guaranteed to fail.

That has been the successful strategy of Bush and the Democrats. Propose shiny new Rube Goldberg schemes to implement border control, and then structure them in a way that they are guaranteed to completely fail.

Why not just simplify your demands:

"We demand the end of the United States as an internationally-recognized sovereign nation."

What a winning platform to run for office!

Until the ideal of no borders is accomplished, something has to be done. Anyone who knows anything about me knows I am concerned about Native American rights. A smart fence is the best compromise. Border crossing checkpoints can be made convenient, even automated. It is not a wall. It is a two lane blacktop & a series of cameras & other surveillance. It would be minimally invasive. When fully operational it would end undocumented entry because detection & detainment would be guaranteed. It would be the best that can be done under the circumstances.
