Libertarian Dobrian files for New York mayor

Libertarian Joseph Dobrian announced earlier this week that he has “has filed nominating papers as the Libertarian Party’s candidate for Mayor of New York City in the 2009 general election.” Dobrian “is principal of Dobrian, Frances, Bowie, & Long, a consulting firm that specializes in editorial services. His mayoral campaign will focus on individual liberty, property rights, taxation, and education.”

Keyes appears in ‘A Question of Eligibility’

David Weigel writes at the Washington Independent that earlier this month, “WorldNetDaily released and began shipping ‘A Question of Eligibility,'” an hourlong documentary on theories that President Obama was born outside the United States. Weigel says the “coverage of the ‘birther’ conspiracies” in the film depends on “interviews with only three people: Alan Keyes, Jerome Corsi, and Janet Porter.” Keyes is the founder of America’s Independent Party and was its presidential nominee in 2008.… Read more ...

Libertarian Root talks to Utah newspaper

The Park Record of Park City, Utah, ran a feature on Libertarian presidential hopeful Wayne Allyn Root under the headline “Ex-Oddsmaker Re-Ups For 2012″. The newspaper says Root, “who is a former Las Vegas oddsmaker, campaigned alongside Bob Barr as the Libertarian Party’s 2008 vice-presidential nominee. In 2012, Root said he plans to be the party’s pick for president.”

Three alternative party candidates on California U.S. House primary ballot

The AP runs a primer on the California 10th District U.S. House special election primary on September 1. While most of the piece is devoted to the major party candidates, the AP does note that “other contenders come from the Green, American Independent and Peace and Freedom parties.” Those candidates, not mentioned by name in the article, are Jeremy Cloward, Jerry Denham, and Mary McIlroy, respectively.… Read more ...
