Utah Constitution Party vice chairman runs for Sandy mayor

KCPW Radio of Salt Lake City reported that Utah Constitution Party Vice Chairman David Perry, a past candidate for Congress, “will now take on Sandy Mayor Tom Dolan this election cycle. Perry’s campaign manager Leonard Olds acknowledges Dolan is a popular mayor, but says Perry’s expertise is needed in what he believes will be very lean budget years ahead.” Olds said, “He’s been a good mayor and he’s not running against Tom. He’s running for principles that are important for the voters to learn.”

Yeah. I was trying to find information on the Pennock Trust and I came upon CT’s comment above.

You must be researching old IPR articles today…

Endorsements, support, recommendations are powerful yet under utilized tools.

We here at Third Party Revolution endorse David Perry in his campaign for Mayor of Sandy, Utah; along with many other third party and independent candidates seeking public offices nation-wide, ranging from local to federal levels.

FWIW, I think Wasilla, AK had the first majority LP council and mayor back in the early 80’s. But they were purged from the LP for endorsing raising the drinking age (or something equally inane).

Also around the time Alex Joseph was taking the reins at Big Water, Leadville CO was also electing several Libertarians to their council. But Leadville libertarians were more like their Wasilla libertarian cousins (republican lite). That and the libertarians in Leadville experienced the wrath of government “love”, so either moved or quit.

No, I did NOT mean that the CP had elected Marshall, but that the republican dominated people of Utah had.

I should have been more clear.

My point was that if Marshall can be elected in such a theocratic and provincial state as Utah, then the CP should be able to elected somebody.

Im not sure why Mr. Linnabury thinks the CP elected Willy Starr Marshall, he was an open member of the LP–as was most of the City Council. If I remember correctly, Big Water was the first town in the US to experience Libertarian leadership in the City Council and Executive position.

    Homonauseous

Funny, considering the etymology of the component words (look it up).

  9. Erik Geib July 22, 2009

    Ah, I’m bigotnauseous and fascistnauseous.

  10. CQIAP July 22, 2009

    Homonauseous, actually.

    Homophobic much?

  12. Cody Quirk July 22, 2009

Mr. Marshall was, and is NOT a member of the CP.

  13. Steven R Linnabary July 21, 2009

And they elected (the openly gay) Willy Starr Marshall mayor of Big Water!

    PEACE

Good luck to the Constitution Party in this heavily Republican state. But speaking of the Mormon state, the Mormons being anti-alcohol.

= They did elect Matt Curry to the Lewiston City council in 2007.

Yes, indeed, whatever, isn’t that such a powerful word? But doesn’t New Federalism make about as much sense as Catholic Trotskyism, being a largely ambiguous terminology?

  16. NewFederalist July 21, 2009

    Uh.. okay. Whatever…

Let us all pray for Gene Amondson to rest in peace. And I am sure there will be debates and jokes about why the lack of alcohol isn’t making these people live longer. But we must also ask, what does the death of Gene Amondson mean for Catholic Trotskyism? The Catholic Trotskyist Party began after the death of Amondson’s Prohibition Party rival, Earl Dodge, in November 2007. TPW broke that story and I found out through Wikipedia. From then, God inspired me to begin posting my opinions on TPW, and later IPR. I first began posting as Tom the Trotskyist, but after a dramatic personal events, I began using the handle Catholic Trotskyist. With Amondson’s death less than two years later, some would interpret this as a sign that God wished me to end my involvement with Catholic Trotskyism. The result, of course, is no. I will instead be expanding my involvement in Catholic Trotskyism to post on Ballot Acccess News, where this story first broke. But not to worry, I will still remain on IPR.
I understand that some may feel this is being insensative to Amondson’s death, but I know that in purgatory/heaven, he and Dodge will be happy to have played such an important part in history. So, amidst my drunken state (or not, believe what you may believe), I have posted my first comment on BAN, about an article about the 10th district race, a district in which I once lived.
Please pray for the pope and please pray for Barack Obama. And please pray for Earl Dodge and Gene Amondson, amen.

This is an emergency hijack. Gene Amondson, the Prohibition Party candidate for President in 2008, has died of a stroke at the age of 65. Wikipedia beat us to it, and BAN was the first to break the story.
Look at Wikipedia Recent Deaths page for July 21 or 20.
Today is a big day for third parties; the Communist Party ending its newspaper is as big as Gene Amondson’s death, but not this Constitution Party, as happy as I am to see the theocrats covered more. But do not take this as a criticism, I perfectly understand that resources are limited.
