On March 16, 2009, the faction of the American Independent Party of California allied with Chuck Baldwin filed a lawsuit to win a ruling that its state officers are the legal state officers. That faction sued the faction of the party allied with Alan Keyes. The case is King v Robinson, Solano County Superior Court 033119.
That case has moved slowly because the defendants have been avoiding being served. However, courts do have procedures to handle that impediment, and those procedures are underway. The case has a status conference on October 19, 2009. Thanks to Mark Seidenberg for the news of the status conference.

Hopefully this issue will be soon resolved, as it was a little more than a political hi-jacking to serve the ego of Keyes.

What about Libertarians in California? They claim to be a “private” organization not beholden to the California Elections Code, but they still want to remain ballot qualified. The LPC bylaws are not codified into the elections code and let a county chairman explain to the Registrar of Voters how the LPC recognizes county central committes. The registrar will just stare back, not having a clue as to the central committee scheme. It’s time for the LPC to decide if it wants to be a real political party or just a pressure group. I’m tired of Libertarians using taxpayer resources to remain a ballot-qualified party, but claiming they don’t have to follow the rules. I agree that the rules suck, but that’s the deal they made with the devil to become a ballot recognized party.

I’m tired of Libertarians using taxpayer resources to remain a ballot-qualified party…
And what exactly is the cost to the state to allow opposition on the ballot?
There is NONE. Period. End of discussion.

While the CP is not my party, I support the efforts of the actual CP/AIP to reclaim their ballot line from the usurping supporters of Keyes.
