I agree with Robert. I think Wayne is honing the message for the audience he is trying to reach. He is making a good effort to try to reach people.

It would be interesting to see how he would do on NPR or a Charlie Rose type show. Maybe he could talk to Bill Maher. Having a book coming out is a good excuse to go stumping around.

not sure if it was when he was running for Pres or as the LP VP .

Nexus: Most of what I see from Wayne is packaging libertarianism for Fox News viewers, I believe there is a lot more mass market out there.

LG: I agree that Wayne voices some good left-libertarian socially liberal views. I just don’t like that he seems to be saying libertarians need not agree on those issues, only on the “fiscally conservative” ones. Basically that comes out as “don’t worry, if elected I wouldn’t *really* do any of that socially liberal crap.”

That being said, I don’t follow Wayne around much. Pretty much all of what I know about him comes from IPR. So maybe I missed the news item about him marching in the gay pride parade, maybe there simply was no such news item here on IPR (which I would find sad as well). But all I see him in is shows on Fox, where he doesn’t disagree when the hosts call slews of Republicans “libertarians” and he himself mainly talks about “Republicans and conservatives.” He’s gotten better, I think, but not much.

But hey, I am in no way affiliated with the LP, so I certainly won’t stop you doing whatever you like, I just don’t see myself becoming affiliated anytime soon if things don’t change.

On foreign policy, military, and conflating Republican, Conservative, Right Wing and Libertarian as all being more or less the same or at least allies, with the left being solely or mainly the enemy?

Wayne Root is an ambitious self-promoting businessman who has convinced himself that he can achieve anything he sets his mind to. As a general rule of thumb this is a healthy attitude, but Root has set his sights on the Oval Office via the 3rd party route and that is a tough row to hoe. Best of luck to you Mr. Root but I have a gut feeling your going to fall a bit short.
