"Banana Republic with Nukes".
I like that. It goes well with the other obvious characterization "Two Party Tyranny".
People who think that overstated or unrealistic could do with some basics of political theory : especially about buying influence.
Check Wikipedia on Plutocracy and Kleptocracy.
If NarcoKleptocracy doesn't blow your mind - especially those who remember New York Mafia, Jimmy Hoffa and Air America and figure "Nature Abhors a Vacuum" - you're ready for links on Moving the Overton Window.
Why ? This gig has its roots in the settlement of the Battle of Hastings in 1066 Britain !
That was the setting up of an land slave state - Serfdom. Easiest way to check is to note the terms of the rebellion of the executive : the Great Charter of 1215...which includes Habeas Corpus...right to trial.

Democracy? What a joke.

Just look at Pennsylvania where the government fined the Green Party candidate $80,000 for FAILING to get on the ballot.

Or

New York's 20th Congressional special election last month where the two parties threw the Libertarian candidate off the ballot 6 days before the election and after absentee ballots with the Libertarian on it had already been sent out. Our wonderful government said they would not even count a vote cast for the Libertarian.

We simply live in a Banana Republic with nukes.

I suggest that each and every believer in democracy and the right for ordinary people to have their first amendment rights represented in the electoral arena read this book.

Especially us other party folks. I refuse the third party label.

What the Dems did to Nader is horrifyingly un-democratic, to the point of illegality.

CT, don't bother. It is filled with far too many big words for you to grasp. This is a big people book.

"the Democratic Party made a historically unprecedented attempt to physically prevent voters from voting for Ralph Nader"

I'd be interested in knowing more about this story. Maybe enough to read the book. (Though, probably, not enough to actually purchase it.)

Sometimes it's better to read a book first and then criticize it after you've read it, not before you've read it.

The idea that voter choice doesn't exist in a two-party system is a myth. Until greens, libertarians and constitutionists realize the fact thhat 99% of people really don't support them, they won't get anywhere.
I hope a lot of you were thinking about me yesterday when our HOLY COMMANDING REVOLUTIONARY GENERAL BARACK H. OBAMA, gave his triumphant speech at the center of the United States and the beacon of the Catholic Church, the University of Notre Dame. I, the chairman of the Catholic Trotskyist Party, was rejected from Notre Dame, but I have a forgiving nature and gave our GREAT LEADER permission to give this speech anyway. This clearly shows that Catholic Trotskyism is on the march faster than anyone could have imagined, and is being lead by Notre Dame's great President Emeritus, Theodore Hesburgh, as he is moving our HOLY LEADER GENERAL OBAMA towards the path of anti-abortionism and Christian socialist revolution, amen.
Celebrate the Easter season, amen.
