@ #13 – LJ, there used to be something said about the democrats being the tax and spend party and the republicans being the print and spend party. The Obama admin seems to have adopted the print and spend strategy. Something like 70 bills were introduced by GOP legislators into this session of the Georgia legislature which would have introduced new taxes or increased existing taxes; the GOP has adopted the tax and spend strategy. The democrats have become republicans and the republicans have become democrats!

False Dichotomy alert! Our country has many aspects of capitalism and socialism, most of which are widely supported (even if not by LP radicals), e.g. public utilities, social security.
The world is not black and white Mr. Root; different problems require different approaches.

I disagree. I think Root is merely pandering, in his usual clumsy way, to the audience.

Root was pro-war and anti-gay marriage a couple of years ago. Then he switched when he realized that many LP members wanted to hear an antiwar, gay rights message.

Now Root is spouting the message he thinks right-wing media wants to hear, because he hopes to get a job from them.

Root is clueless as to how clumsy he appears. He tries to see which way the crowd is going, then rushes to its front so he can “lead.”

But of course Wayne is right, all liberals wanted Reagan dead, all liberals are horrible people who believe free speech should only be for them, as opposed to wonderful fuzzy patriotic conservatives.

The ACLU is about as liberal as you can get, and they believe in free speech, they’d fight tooth and nail to protect Wayne’s right to rag on liberals.

I could tell him about the kids in my 9th grade English class who came from Republican families that cheered when the ashen faced, visibly shaken principal of my junior high school burst into the classroom and announced that John Kennedy had been assassinated. Or even about the kid who couldn’t care less about Republican/Democrat, but cheered because he was trying to get into the pants of one of his Republican classmates.

Being an asshole transcends one’s location on the left/right political spectrum sometimes.

Until Root solidly leaves the Republican Party boilerplate behind and finds his own voice and policy platform — rather than sounding like a mid-90s Republican talk radio jockey — I’m afraid he’s going to have trouble finding traction.

Don’t be “afraid” for Root. He’s not seeking “traction” in the LP.

Root is no idiot. He knows what he wants. He knows how to get it. He wants a highly-paid, right-wing media gig.

Now he’s auditioning around the country, hoping to be the next right-wing talk radio host, or Fox News anchor.

Once the Republicans or conservatives hire Root, he is so out of here.
