In the end, Green Party candidate Matt Reichel received 6.59% of the vote, in the election for Rahm Emanuel’s vacanted 5th District Congressional seat. The winner was Democrat Mike Quigley, who won in a landslide with 69% of the vote.
As expected, Democratic candidate Mike Quigley easily beat Republican Roseanne Pulido and Green Party hopeful Matt Reichel in the race for Rahm Emanuel’s 5th District Congressional seat.
The lakefront county commissioner declared victory to cheering well-wishers in Wrigleyville’s John Barleycorn Pub about an hour and a half after the polls closed Tuesday evening following one of the lightest voter turnouts in recent memory.
Quigley had 30,109 (69.23 percent with 572 of 578 precincts reporting. Pulido had 10,509 votes (24.17 percent) and Reichel had 2,868 (6.59 percent).

The 50-year-old onetime aide to “machine” Democrat Ald. Bernard Hansen (44th) built his reputation as a maverick, battling night baseball in Cubs Park in the 1980s.
WTF??? And they STILL elected him?
PEACE

Or better yet for Greens, organize that almost 7% who voted for Matt, along with the name recognition he earned for this race and challenge a local or county office.

Matt, good job getting a bit more than Alan Augustson in this district in 2008. It’s the best strategy to focus the Green Party on races where the Democrats are firmly in control, otherwise they become agents of the Republican/Naderite Pig world control conspiracy. Matt, I hope you come back to run another campaign, but the only way to be truly modern and relevent is to declare you support the ideas of Catholic Trotskyism and the Fringe Alliance strategy, partnering with a Libertarian or Constitution Party candidate running in a dominantly Republican district, thus increasing the awhereness of the fringe in society and moving the Democrats and Republicans toward the fringe and not the squishy center.
A pleasant and penetent Holy Thursday to all. Remember the Lord’s Supper.

Again no endorsement of the progressive libertarian alliance strategy by the candidate and again=LOSER.

Wrong Robert, the Progressive Alliance strategy is still made for losers, it is in the right direction, but is not enough for our current situation. Only the Fringe Alliance strategy based on the principles of Catholic Trotskyism does matter.
