IPR traffic report: just passed TPW in page views on sitemeter, despite over six month head start

February 8th, 2009 · 24 Comments

As of a few minutes ago, IPR is at 1,476,912 pageviews since May 20, 2008, and TPW is at 1,476,455 pageviews since December 13, 2007.

Since the pace is more recently about an order of magnitude apart, they will start having to do something very different if they want to make this interesting again. Like maybe posting new articles more often than now – the last new post there is from January 14.

If they don’t, maybe somebody else will step up and make this more challenging?

To be fair, our traffic is half of what it was in November, but this is the slow season for electoral politics.

Paulie

    Congratulations!

OTOH, it cannot help when somebody does go to TPW and their anti-virus programs go off!

    Congratulations!

I’m hoping someone steps up and makes it more interesting.

Hopefully there will be some big changes before the next election season and some new contributors, too.

    Paulie,

At this point we have your wonderful site here, we have TheDailyLiberty.com, and we have LibertyForAll.net . Last Free Voice appears almost inoperative.

  • 6 Stewart Flood // Feb 8, 2009 at 10:00 pm

Does TPW have anyone running it these days? I doubt it.

It started to die last year after Steve Gordon left. The lack of articles for the past month and the viruses (I’ve seen that warning but haven’t spotted a virus attack) are pretty good evidence that it has been killed by the owners.

But Paulie, is it more important to have competition or to have decent reporting? The quality of IPR has steadily gone up over the past year. That’s more important than worrying about someone challenging you.

Keep up the good work and you’ll continue to thrive.

    “LibertyForAll.net ”

LibertyforAll.net ought to change its name to LibertyforAllbutthosewhomakeanycommentthatiscriticalofSeanHaugh.net since they like to give the disgraced former LP Political Director Sean Haugh a forum for posting lies, and then censor any posts that refute Sean Haugh’s lies.

Looks like we’ve got a few anti-Semites among us from that realjewnews.com thing. Other than that and a few other questionable sites, our visitors are doing pretty good for themselves.

    Paulie,

At this point we have your wonderful site here, we have TheDailyLiberty.com, and we have LibertyForAll.net . Last Free Voice appears almost inoperative.

Yeah, those are all libertarian blogs. Nobody is giving us any real competition anymore on what we do here and what TPW was doing, but is not doing much of at all anymore.

    As for LFV.

I think they may be starting back up. They unblocked the site today and I could actually read it without a subscription. The new info was that the managers are “Steve” in addition to Michelle Shinghal, who bought it recently.

I don’t know for sure if Steve is Steve Gordon, but he’s good friends with Michelle and they have been talking about doing a website together for a while. They did work together on some past websites – both wrote for HoT, she did ad sales for TPW when he owned, for a while he was at LFV. Those are the ones I know of.

I just erased the part of this comment where I was bitching about how LFV got swiped out from under me. I’ll forward my last unanswered emails about that to anyone who asks.

    Thanks Stewart.

I felt the competition was keeping me on my toes and I kind of miss it in a way.

As for the quality…I think some of the party infighting (usually LP) stuff we used to run did make things more interesting for sparking conversations, but at the same time some of it was overboard and we jumped the gun on some facts sometimes in a rush to get things out the door. We did always strive to correct it when needed, though.

The straight up cut and paste stuff which I’m doing more now, some people don’t like, and honestly I am not so happy with doing it either, but when I’m putting up the bulk of the articles – like maybe 10 a day, just myself – I just can’t do much else with it. I’m not even getting to most of the stuff I want to be posting, much less doing it justice.

Hopefully Trent will succeed in recruiting some more new people to write here so that whenever I finally get healthy enough to get back out on the road (hopefully soon!) there will still be people to keep the pace up here.

Thanks for commenting, BTW – it’s really comments that keep me going. And it reminded me I need to give you a call, like maybe tomorrow.

Oy gevalt. These meshuggeneh goyim must think I am high up in the Jewish Conspiracy now, as one of the people in the ‘Jew Run Media’ LOL.

But more seriously, that is really disturbing. I did notice that we do really well on the Chuck Baldwin pieces and a few other things like that, trafficwise. Not sure why; maybe Trent has some SEO tricks he’s been up to. But this paints that factoid in a much more sinister light.

And what’s up with all the Jew hating by some prominent libertarian sites lately? I don’t mean Israel hating, I mean straight up Jew hating.

    paulie,

I dont know why you would assume that the anti-semite stuff comes from those who are with the CP? You said yourself that some prominent libertarian sites are spewing that stuff–and I’ve found no hint of anti-semitism on CP websites. I dont do much SEO stuff for this site–although I will probably start soon.

  • 14 paulie cannoli // Feb 9, 2009 at 2:01 am

I dont know why you would assume that the anti-semite stuff comes from those who are with the CP?

Just guessing – since the other ones I noticed were borderfire, americanfreepress and americanpatrol.

I’ve found no hint of anti-semitism on CP websites.

Oh, I’m not claiming any of that is on official CP sites. They just tend to be closer on the whole “degrees of separation” matrix.

For that matter some of it may have to do with the fact that just about every alternative party in existence has been putting the Israel/Gaza issue front and center, and then there was Ramos and Compean, the Obama natural born citizenship “controversy”, and a few other hot buttons among the nationalist/racialist set.

Maybe we should start running some pro-Israel stuff from Dondero and the Modern Whigs, or something. Might work on them like garlic on vampires.

“Last Free Voice appears almost inoperative.”

Agreed, I can’t even “log in” to see it. It seems that every time I start writing for a site, it caves in.

It’s time for liberty to regroup. On a local level, I’m seeing Ron Paul motivated groups spring up all across my state to lobby local government.

The new masthead for LFV is “ANOTHERANARCHIST Last Free Voice” (the caps are their’s not mine).

Stephen Gordon isn’t someone that I’d catagorize as an anarchist, so I’m not sure he’d be the Steve that the site refers to.

You’re right that competition keeps you on your toes, but most of the past year LFV posted the same articles or posted articles that just said that something was posted on another site. Quite a few of their articles were really just personal commentary that had to be pulled due to proven inaccuracies.

    That’s not really competition.

Someone appears to have spent a bit of time reworking the look of the site. Maybe the “new” LFV will be better.

  • 17 paulie cannoli // Feb 9, 2009 at 10:39 am

The new masthead for LFV is “ANOTHERANARCHIST Last Free Voice” (the caps are their’s not mine).

    Yep, that’s Michelle.

Stephen Gordon isn’t someone that I’d catagorize as an anarchist, so I’m not sure he’d be the Steve that the site refers to.

I’m not sure he is either. But Steve did tell me in the past that he’s an anarchist. I think you are thinking of anarchist as the opposite of pragmatist; some people are both.

As I said, LFV is not really competition for IPR, although there is the overlapping category of LP plotical coverage that dominates much of the discussion at both sites. IPR also covers all the other alternative parties and independents; LFV is supposed to cover other aspects of liberty besides alternative partisan politics.

I would like to start writing about the latter more again, but I’m not inspired to do so if I don’t have the commenter base and other active writers.

Trying to get NFV going that way….

Keep in mind that LFV went on hiatus when ENM had to step back when reality intervened. She can tell that story, and yes, life happens.

However, LFV has relaunched, and with Miche also doing BTM as well, she’s in full stride.

TPW is just deadwood that lost all its momentum when Gordon left.

  • 19 Ross Levin // Feb 9, 2009 at 3:48 pm

Paulie – I think you’re part of the Jewish Russian communist conspiracy…

That disinter thing was really horrible. You removed him from the blogroll, right?

  • 20 Trent Hill // Feb 9, 2009 at 4:04 pm

Yes, but not because of any “horrible” statements. We removed disinter becasue the blog rarely pertains to third parties.

  • 21 Trent Hill // Feb 9, 2009 at 4:05 pm

For the record, I agree any anti-jewish or anti-semitic statements are horrible, but we dont limit our blogroll to those we find agreeable–otherwise it would be quite small and have little to do with third parties.

  • 22 Trent Hill // Feb 9, 2009 at 4:08 pm

In other, more interesting, news—I just ordered Tom Woods’ latest book =)

    Gordon says it’s not him.

    Last Free Voice

February 9, 2009 by disinter (on his blog)

I was never a fan of the “libertarian” blog Last Free Voice. Attempting to replace the yet-to-be-disinterred Hammer of Truth proved to be a massive failure. The writers were almost always lame and it only became lamer as they added members of the retard caucus. However it looks like they have totally revamped the layout, changed the overall direction and threw out the fascist scum that wrote there. How refreshing!

Check out the daily “Devil’s Dictionary”. Here is today’s entry:

Creditor, n. One of a tribe of savages dwelling beyond the Financial Straits and dreaded for their desolating incursions.

Congratulations on the drastic improvement, LFV. You have been added to the disinter blogroll.

    My reply:

Who’s the fascist scum, Mike, me?

Congratulation on celebrating censorship and theft. Goes well with your Jew-hating.

I spent literally thousands of hours writing for and promoting LFV, created most of the blogroll, hundreds of posts, thousands of comments, created the LFV facebook, etc…

ENM – someone I invited to write for the site and then promoted to co-admin with me – then swiped the site out from under me with false pretenses, and then made money selling it, apparently.

It’s like if you invited someone to live at your house, and then she proceeded to lock you out, change the locks and sell the place.

Michelle’s running mate and her running mate’s husband should be really proud.
