Jo Mannies in StLToday.com:
The Missouri Constitution Party sent out a statement tonight announcing that it opposes the appointment of Linda Martinez by new Gov. Jay Nixon as director of the Missouri Economic Development Department.
Why?
“While working pro bono for the Bryan Cave Law Firm, Ms Martinez led the fight to repeal duly passed city ordinances in Valley Park…put in place in 2006 to stem the tide of illegal immigrants in the small town,” the Constitution Party said in a statement.
“The ordinances included penalties for any Valley Park business that hired, or any landlord renting to illegal aliens. Ms Martinez coordinated and spearheaded a group of more than twenty lawyers from organizations that included the ACLU, the St. Louis University School of Law, and the Washington University School of Law.”
More:
The Constitution Party believes that her involvement in the case disqualifies Ms Martinez for the position for the following reasons:
–”In leading the opposition against the Valley Park ordinances, Ms Martinez has demonstrated a commitment to supporting illegal immigration over supporting the rule of law.
“Last year, the Missouri legislature passed by an overwhelming majority laws which prohibit employers from hiring illegal aliens. The Constitution Party believes that Ms Martinez’s involvement with the Valley Park case indicates a potential conflict between her stand for illegals and her duties to work within the laws as a state-appointed official.
“As the Director of the Missouri Economic Development Department is directly involved with the Show-Me Jobs program, the Constitution Party believes that Ms Martinez’s appointment will dampen the enthusiasm for and confidence in the program. This would result in loss of commerce and jobs in the state.”
“The Constitution Party calls for the Missouri State Senate to reject the appointment of Ms Martinez, and for Governor Nixon to make a more appropriate choice for the position.

Maybe I’m naive, but exactly how does making it illegal to rent to workers or hiring workers make it harder to carry out commerce in Missouri?
Sounds to me like the CP needs to take a primer on basic economics.

The Constitution Party supports laws that punish business for hiring people, and landlords for renting to people.
Doesn’t seem like their commitment to free enterprise goes far enough.

The Constitution Party supports laws
that punish criminal employers who
privatize their profits and dump the
social costs on the Nation at large and
landlords who do the same.

Aiding and abeting criminals IS a crime in this country.

If they were guilty of a legitimate crime, perhaps. Even then, it is not the responsibility of employers and landlords to act as detectives.
Crossing an illegitimate line in the sand by which the regime claims to be a de facto owner or part owner of the entire country without their permission is not legitimately a crime.
Why should I have to have government papers in order to get a job or a place to live? That’s not what this country is supposed to be about.

The Constitution Party became an “established” party in Missouri last year by polling more than 2% in a statewide race (state treasurer, I think) — they had to petition in 2008, but now they get automatic ballot access for at least the next four years (every 2%+ year pushes their automatic ballot access four years out from that election).
I suspect that the Know-Nothing approach will play well enough to help them keep above 2%. Fortunately, it will also keep them perpetually out of the closet as an authoritarian, anti-freedom, un-American political party without voters having to dig in their platform for the even dirtier details.

I guess Bill and MA think it is a crime to be in this country.

I guess Bill and MA think it is a crime to be in this country.
At least without permission from its owners, since the whole country is the legitimate private property of the government, comrade.
The papers, old man…where are your papers?

Well, well, well, we have a bunch of illegal lovers here!
The CP party doesn’t want us American to have to have our taxpayer money going to people illegal squatting in our country. They are parasites on our systems designed to help Americans. You can Google the Mexican Immigration policy if you are smart enough! Information is power. Also check out how Mexico is building a border on the southern end. They don’t want them pesky illegals from South America come into their country. HYPOCRITES!!!!
What part of the word ILLEGAL don’t you understand! We are suppose to be a nation of laws! At the moment we are a screwed up nation due to people like you Bloggers here.

Well, well, well, we have a bunch of illegal lovers here!
While I do admit that I am sometimes attracted to the slightly underage female who is already possessed of an adult female shape, I haven’t made any of them my lovers, at least knowingly, since I’ve been of adult age myself. Oh, wait, that wasn’t what you meant?
The CP party doesn’t want us American to have to have our taxpayer money going to people illegal squatting in our country. They are parasites on our systems designed to help Americans.
The CP is mad at Martinez because she did not want business and employers to have to act as ICE agents at their own expense. We are talking about undocumented workers – that is people who work – and their willing employers, as well as those same workers using the money they earned to pay for a place to live. Sounds to me like the only one squatting and being a parasite in that equation is the government.
You can Google the Mexican Immigration policy if you are smart enough! Information is power. Also check out how Mexico is building a border on the southern end. They don’t want them pesky illegals from South America come into their country.
Why should I care? Why would bad laws in other countries justify bad laws here? Our goal should be to pick all the stupid, immoral and destructive policies from all over the world and implement them here?
What part of the word ILLEGAL don’t you understand!
The part where such moronic laws make sense, or the part where they should not be repealed, protested against, and civilly disobeyed.

As far as I know, being in the USA “illegally” if you will is not a crime. No criminal law violation here. Not having an immigration status while in the USA at most is a civil charge, thus deportation is the only action.
With regards to fighting Valley Park’s Ordinance…Linda Martinez should be applauded. That is part of what lawyers do, fight bad laws. Look it up. Oh, bu the way, I believe her clients were not “illegal” aliens…But Valley Park Citizens.

Tela Met,
I agree – except that even deportation is not warranted, since the immigration restrictions are not legitimate law at all.

” constitution party is racist. ”
Response – Yet another lie against the CP. The most racist organization in the history of the nation and world is Planned Parenthood whose founder, Margaret Sanger ( go to blackgenocide.org for the documentation ), declared that blacks are ” human weeds ” as she and her cohorts set out to exterminate their enemies via abortion and many other methods. While all other major parties are at best neutral ( Republicans ) if not openly supportive ( Democrats, Greens, Socialists, Libertarians ) of the racism of Planned Parenthood the CP, alone of all major national parties, is fighting against the Social Darwinist racism and genocide of both Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry as a whole. Only the CP fights in defense of the family and humanity as a whole against the racist criminals of Planned Parenthood and their supporters.

Don Grundman –rofl , man your always good for a laugh …thanks!
21 Don Grundmann // Oct 9, 2009 at 1:45 am
While Don Lake and libertarian girl sit on their posteriors it is the Constitution Party that fights against racism. Easily documented, as at blackgenocide.org and the platform of the CP which fights against the genocide of abortion, but of course some people care nothing for either facts or even genocide. They actually find it ” good for a laugh.” Of course when genocide has defenders such as these it is no wonder that it continues.
