Mary Starrett has performed a service by providing a look at what fascism really entails, and how our present bipartisan government is headed in that direction. John T Flynn wrote "As We Go Marching" at a time when America was in a war against foreign fascism. His book, along with "Road to Serfdom" by Hayek and "Omnipotent Government" by Mises remain valuable guides to understanding fascism, and how the temptation toward fascism infects the relatively free societies of the West.
