31 December 2008 The Missouri state affiliate was unanimously approved today. Congratulations to our members in Missouri, and happy new year!
30 December 2008 Happy New Year to everyone. May 2009 be prosperous and full of greater freedom. On this day in 1903, the Iroquois Theater fire claimed 602 lives in twenty minutes, the deadliest single building blaze in American history. In 1972 Nixon stopped carpet bombing North Vietnam. In 2003, Ashcroft recused himself in the investigation into the Plame affair. In 2006, Saddam Hussein was executed by hanging. Today, about 152,000 coalition troops remain in Iraq.
Being the end of year message (now that I’ve gone weekly) I thought it well to report on some of our progress in this calendar year. We started 2008 with this site brand new, only five people having joined. The old site and membership going back to 2006 was lost in 2007. Today I am happy to report that a total of 835 people have joined the party on this site. We had 899 members of our largest Facebook group last I checked. Please invite your friends to be a part of our party.
We also had one state affiliate at the beginning of this year. We now have 12 state affiliates which have been officially recognised by the national committee. Fourteen more are being formed, and you are welcome to start one in your state. Check our social networking page to see if a group is being started, or contact Tom Knapp, myself, or any member of the national committee for help getting started (see the contact page for details). A thirteenth state affiliate, Missouri, has, today, applied for official recognition by the national committee.
During this election year we nominated one candidate for president, put him on the ballot in three states, registered him for write-in votes in ten states, and we’re still getting in reports on the vote total. We endorsed another candidate for president in two states which illustrates our willingness to endorse an LP candidate for president. We also endorsed about three dozen candidates in various states, including some 22 LP candidates. Two of our candidates now hold office. This year was our first presidential election. We look forward to fielding many more candidates in 2010 and in 2012.
We are hosting a face to face gathering in Kansas City, Missouri, in late May 2009, roughly the anniversary of our first such meeting in May of this year in Denver.

Due to actions on my part in my home state I now [in 2009] more understand the break away the BTP from National Lib and the disaffection of lots of Libs from BobBarr08.
As justifiable as these movements away from Lib Central may have been, be afraid, be very afraid, of the Deform Party disease: splinters of splinters.
P1992, Perot 20%!
P2008, Ted Weill, 500 votes!
[And you thot WMD and Halloween were scary!]

Could today be IPR’s first ever without a post? I blame it on open comments!

I could very easily make several posts again, like I have been doing for quite a few days. But I thought it would be time to shut up and let other people talk, especially because I feel like absolute crap. This asthma-bronchitis thing is kicking my ass big time, and nothing seems to make it go away.
I’m going back to the hospital for the third time since this attack started a couple of months ago (I think….can’t remember exactly when anymore) on Jan 8 if I can hold out that long.
There have been lots and lots of days when nobody except me posted anything. I’d go back and check which ones they were, but I don’t feel like it.
I forwarded all the google alerts I get to the group. Nobody wants to anything with them except bitch at me for flooding their inbox? Fine, I won’t do it again.
And lastly, while I am still for the idea of open comments, I am tired of arguing about it, or anything else.
I’m finding it very hard to care about anything right now. So y’all do whatever you would do if I did not exist.

I recommend somebody post something about my favorite state, Texas. Maybe mention how much money the LP Texas raised as posted on their home page: http://lptexas.org/ and then try to track down how much other state parties raised. Reading about Texas always cheers me up. Maybe it has the same affect on others.

Has the vote totals for texan candidates increased as well? Memberships? Voting base?

Using the presidential percentages in 2008, Texas was the 4th best state for the LP. Only Indiana, Georgia and Utah were more supportive.
In 2004, Texas was the 7th most supportive state for the LP, using the 2004 presidential percentages.

Pardon me. I just noticed your recent article about Texas.

They ran more candidates than any other state, and I’m pretty sure their overall vote totals for (combined) candidates were the highest. So, yes, they have grown in all those categories tremendously.

I cant let you go away with all the stuff.

Let me guess, the Wu Yi link is to malware?
Get away or go away? With all what stuff? C’mon, if you want to screw around with people who post to this site, learn the language. Just writing a complete sentence doesn’t mean you are making sense.

Just in case, I removed the link. It was commercial spam, not related to the discussion here. Malware or not, I don’t know.
