The never unopinionated radio personality Curtis Sliwa is unabashedly not a fan of the woman to whom he refers as “Princess Caroline,” and much prefers the idea of Ralph Nader as a replacement for Hillary Clinton in the US Senate.
Sliwa interviewed Nader on the topic late last week. As you can hear in the clip below, Sliwa seems a lot more enthusiastic about the idea of Sen. Nader than Nader himself does, although he doesn’t rule it out, either.
UPDATE: As a reader notes, Nader isn’t a New York resident – actually, he lives next door in Connecticut – which would seem to count him out of the US Senate non-race. But Sliwa is advocating for him to relocate.
Also, an interesting point I came across in an old CapConf post while seeking to confirm that Nader is indeed a resident of the Nutmeg State: He endorsed Clinton’s Green Party challenger, Howie Hawkins, in 2006.
Curtis Sliwa is a fucking moron. I have to listen to him at work because I work in radio and he’s on a station I’m on. It’s not optional, I’m a captive audience.
He puts people on the air like a deranged “producer” who rants and screams about how Obama is a Muslim, (of course saying oh you’re crazy man you’re over the top) He puts him ON THE AIR over and over again! and you know someone out there is getting all f&%^#$ed up about it hearing those words.
He doesn’t cite history, he doesn’t reference anyone remotely resembling a thinker, he blasts his audience with hate speech and innuendo about Obama who’s the best hope this country’s had in 20 years; do ya think he’s even cracked any of Obama’s books to see who it is he’s attacking?
No education whatsoever. Sometimes he’s entertaining. There are moments I laugh. Those are the moments he gives over to dating or popular culture.
But politics? Does the man ever READ?
There are so many smart, interesting, funny people in the world. But what’s on the air these days, coming from these right-wing whackos, is like pure garbage pouring into the minds of those who dial up those frequencies. It’s like that garbage patch in the Pacific that’s the size of Texas and 30 metres deep, made up of all the foul plastic excreta of our heedless consumerism. It’s like hairballs and phlegm coughed into your mouth during a kiss forced on you by a drunken, sweating, reeking asshat who thinks you should be impressed because he’s got a nice car. It’s like a pipeline of festering ooze from a whining, bitter psyche whirling in a self-created vortex of hubris and oblivious aggression. Something is happening to this country that is very bad, and he is a part of it. He’s one of the points in the universal mind where incomprehension threatens to suck everything good, into an alternate world of finger-pointing, criticism without constructiveness, and uncontrollably spasming projection and hatred for anyone different. Fear rules in that world. And he’s such a tough guy. These days I turn down the volume when I am forced to listen, make sure no one can hear me, and softly hum the theme to All Things Considered. God help us all.
I couldn’t have written this better myself. I have had dealings with him and this is exactly what he is.
He is no “crimefighter”, but rather a shyster who cons people into believing his lies and stale old tales of “crimefighting”.How is it, that the media has given a forum to fraud?
I couldn’t give a hoot about Curtis Sliwa. To me, that’s not the important thing here. The important thing is Ralph Nader being heard on a Mainstream Media outlet.
If you know the mind of Nader, you will fully realize that he has absolutely zero interest in becoming the governor of New York and did not agree to this interview for promoting himself in that regard. Nader has bigger fish to fry and that is to continue being the spearhead for the third party politics, fairness in the election process, and the return to law and order in America. It’s also very important to Ralph that he inspire the youth of this country to take back their government that has been hijacked by greedy corporate swindlers. That’s basically what his runs for presidency have all been about.
Nader will grab any opportunity to speak out on
issues that are important to him and the American people and used this opportunity offered him by Sliwa for just that sole purpose.
Rest assured that Ralph has no intentions of becoming a resident of NY so that he can make a run for that seat in the Senate.
Thanks Ralph. Since I am a “conscientious voter.” if you run again in 2012 I will once again cast my vote for you.

Sliwa backs Nader… weird, weird, weird… You’d think his cohort, the communist, what’s his name… Ron Kuby would be the man for that. But Sliwa? Weird.
So, he hasn’t changed, I guess. Not surprising. I used to clash with his group regularly in the 1980s.
Sliwa also has a fake “Brooklyn accent.” I know this because he once interviewed his father on his show, who had no accent whatsoever.
Sliwa explained this by saying that his father was in the merchant marine, hence, away from Brooklyn much of the time.
Sliwa is a fake on many levels, who’s cultivated his “Brooklyn goombah” personality as a radio act.
His views shift with his audience.
When the issue of gay rights came up some years ago, Sliwa opposed it, but in an especially dummied-down Brooklyn street thug way, “Uh, all I know is, I don whan my rear end to be nobody’s porceline palace.”
I suspect he had to be against gay rights, to keep up the “conservative” act. But he dummied it down several notches, so as not to offend NY’s gay community.
I’d have had more respect for him if he’d taken either stand. But he’s a coward and a fake.
Of course, Sliwa is also a huge Arab-basher and Muslim-basher, and pro-war, which goes over well with his WABC audience.
And the mafia is definitely something to be afraid of. The mafia may have had Kennedy killed, which set back the cause of Catholic Trotskyism for 40 years.
If Nader would caucus for the Democrats, this would be good. I am surprised that Sliwa would support him. He is a conservative who has substituted for Hannity and Limbaugh. But this only validates the idea that Nader is a part of the Bush/Limbaugh/neocon Republican world control conspiracy. He is really right-wing and does everything he can to destroy the Holy Democratic Party. But, Sliwa’s work with the Guardian Angels was noble and good.
That would do a disservice to the gutters of Canarsie.
Curtis Sliwa is a functional illiterate, who faked his own kidnapping, filed false police reports, has his stooges sign a release so he can’t be sued in case his untrained stooges get hurt, or hurt someone.
